We all have a game in our lives that we feel gets more praise than it should like no other. Likewise, on the other side of the spectrum, we all have a game that we feel didn't get nearly the praise it should have like no other. Here are mine:
The most overrated game I've played:
Title: The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
System: N64
Released in: 1998
Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
My main gripe with this game is that while the story points to doing the Shadow Temple before the Spirit Temple, both the quest status screen and the Chamber Of The Sages put the Spirit Medallion clockwise immediately after the Water Medallion. Consequently, I find myself avoiding Kakariko Village in the future like the plague between the times I get them, despite the fact that both that temple and the events prior to it are the most elaborate in the game, especially when compared to the Shadow Temple. Also, there are tantalizing areas that turn out not to have anything particularly special. And the whole horse riding thing, despite being a necessity later on and being brought back later in the series, just seemed more gimmicky to me than anything.
The most underrated game I've played:
Title: Legend Of Kay
System: PS2
Released in: 2005
Developer: NEON Studios
Under License From: JoWood Productions
Publisher: Capcom
It's a Capcom action platformer set in a world of antropomorphic animals with top-notch action, groundbreaking mechanics, solid voice acting and cutscenes in the form of comic pages that wasn't nearly as successful as it should have been. At the end of the crdits are the words: We'll be back! I'm holding Capcom to that to this day.
You guys?

Most overrated Sega Genesis game ever is Sonic 2. The game looks like shit compared to Sonic 1 and Sonic 3, the music is almost all annoying and bad, tails is a fucking loser, there are only a few good boss fights, the bonus round is lame because TAILS FUCKING GETS HIT BY BOMBS AND LOSES RINGS FOR YOU.
They shoulda just gone with the whole "3 levels per area" thing they did in Sonic 1. By trying to cram more worlds into the game, they ended up just having to limit the palette to a bunch of ugly ass colors. Fewer worlds with more varied and vibrant tilesets like in Sonic 1 would have been fine.

Operation Winback on the N64 was pretty underrated.
WW2 sims are highly overrated.

I'll go with Zelda here:
Underrated- Wind Waker
Everyone was ripping on this game because of it's cartoonish style though the game itself was great.
I read somewhere one person wrote:
"Why the hell does Link have a sister?!"
Now here is what I was thinking:
"Is this guy serious? If he spent less time bitching about the game and instead learn something about it he would realize that it isn't the same Link in every Zelda game."
Overrated-Twilight Princess
Some people might disagree on this but I think the waiting time for this game was too damn long. Waiting for this game made it overrated for me, because I assumed it was going to be a hard and long game like OoT but not quite.
The bosses are too easy in this game and you can find heart pieces by talking to someone in Hyrule Castle Town. Well I'm not gonna say this game sucks in fact; it is awesome but easy bosses piss me off.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

Easy bosses have plagued the Mario franchise since Super Mario World. It is definitely annoying.
It's funny that you bitched about the delay on Twilight Princess. Ocarina of Time was one the most famously and repeatedly delayed games of all-time. It was supposed to be a launch title.

I was playing LttP (which was my cousins) because he got an N64 before I did so I guess I didn't notice.
A least OoT has bosses that take more then 2 minutes to beat
By the way isn't Brawl overrated?

I haven't heard any Brawl hype since March. Then again this is the only place I hear video game hype from . And in terms of what real people in my neighborhood thought, all I heard was, "the New Smash Bros. is ok, but something seems to be missing."
Brawl is definitely not overrated, it just took too damn long to come out.

Overrated:
Halo Series - Play 1 & 2 on the PC, and you'll realize how bland they really are.
World Of Warcraft - Grind Levels, Bitch That Someone is better than you, repeat.
Every Final Fantasy after IX - They kinda ceased being Final Fantasy in all but name.
Guitar Hero - GuitarFreaks did it first, and did it much better.
DDR - Wow, they brought back the Powerpad.
The Wii - Why does every game maker think that they have to use the motion sensing controls, even if the game would be better played with a standard gamepad?
Underated:
SNES - Uncharted Waters 2: New Horizons - The best pirate game since Pirates!
SNES - Tecmo Secret Of The Stars - An awesome RPG hiding in Final Fantasy's and Dragon Warrior's shadows.
PS1 - Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure - It looks likes a RPG for 12 year old girls, but has a great combat system, and was alot of fun to play.

Another underrated game was the Indiana Jones emperor's tomb game.

Over rated:
Okami- Got boring really fast and the humor was lame
Kingdom Hearts- The first one was just ok, the second one really blew
New Super Mario Bros- Wow did this game suck, shitty levels, easy as fuck, and BORING. Bowser Jr. sucks too.
Twilight Princess- I agree with what was said before, I loved this game (as with any Zelda game) but it didn't quite deliver for that long wait. I was really expecting it to be the best 3D Zelda.
Under rated:
F-Zero GX- Best racing game I've ever played and I hate racing games. Amazing tracks.
Rule of Rose- The combat in this game is broken as fuck but you can actually get used to it. It was just such an interesting game, don't really know what made me finsih it but I was glad that I did.
Final Fantasy IX- I hate how many people put this game down. Well I guess that means it won't be whored around and ruined like VII is these days at least.
Mystical Ninja (N64)- I love the hell out of this game, I can see why it's not for everyone though.
That's about all I've got for now.

The thing I can't stand about gran turismo is, if it's so realistic, why can't any of the cars take damage? Well, I know the reason why, but it makes the gameplay fuckin dumb and unrealistic when you can constantly get away with bumping and sliding into other cars. I don't mind a driving sim, but if you're going to make it super realistic, then go all the way. None of this no damage bullshit.

Underrated - The Tenchu Series (the early games, that is)
Most people credit MGS1 has being the game that popularlized "steath action," but Tenchu 1 came out at about the same time, and did it much better. While MGS had those stupid "vision cones" that determined the enemy's awareness, the enemies in Tenchu could see you just as easily as you could see them. Therefore, you really had to utilize steath to come up right behind them and kill them. The thing that was amazing about T1 was that it was loaded with bugs, and the AI could be ridiculously stupid at times. Nevertheless, the game was still fun as hell. Tench 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins was a good game as well, having fixed a lot of the bugs and improved in a lot of areas. But personally, I didn't really like the "brighter" atmosphere in this game. The darker mood of T1 was the best, IMO. The later Tenchu games got progressively worse, if only because there was virtually no forward progress other than the graphics.

Halo is overrated. Its not that its bad, its that its got a sizable population of Frat Boys who jack off to how awesome Mister Chef is. Its like 300. No wait, its not like 300, because 300 sucked.
