Screening of my short film "Orko Party" on Wed. the 10th. It's craptastic... and a ripoff of both Rocky IV and an episode of "Masters of the Universe". I'll try and get a bootleg copy online.

Actually, it's about 4 minutes long, so everyone just wait for an online copy.

Ha! Awesome. I take it you'll be tossing it up on YouTube or equivalent?

YouTube or Google Video most likely. It's on film, so the tape will literally be me videotaping it in the screening room.

What sort of equipment does one need to actually rip a VHS tape into mpg or avi? I have a few things I promised to duplicate for some friends years ago but never did...

What happen to the orignal material. Like for example the thing with "KILL BILL" and how a handler of the film was giving out bits of the film on the net.

I just hook up my VCR to a bridge/converter and import it into iMovie. Once there, I edit the beginning and end of the video I wish to shrink. Then with Quicktime, I can export it into any medium I want. This is the hard ass way of doing it, btw, but I'm used to it.

There's a few programs that can convert media into mpg or avi easily though. I forget which ones due to my lack of experience with them... Sad

The original film is still in 16mm strips and I can't transfer it to video without paying a ton of money I don't have. My copy of the first film I did on film is on DV by taping it being projected. It worked out pretty well actually.

16mm shouldn't count as film. The Kennedy assassination looks better than this flick. Laughing

I won't be happy till I'm using 2.35 Panavision or something... and when I get a real DP. Man, I need to get a real crew PERIOD.

Big success on the film. Many laughs, lots of people liked it (all five of them), and not one projector error. I'll try and have a YouTube of it up by the end of the month.

Whoops, my bad gam-mar. I meant that all five people in the audience liked it. Actually, there was about 13 people in the audience. I'm sure at least two people didn't like it, but as Arnold would say

TO HELL WITH DEM!!!

Because it's still giving people seizures...

Honestly, it's a matter of shrinking DV into a wmv or mov or mp4 that YouTube or GoogleVid will accept. I also have about 4 GB on my computer right now, which I'm still transfering to data DVDs.

I thought I'd have those problems fixed by the end of the month... Guess I was wrong.

Don't worry, I still remember. I just had a screening for the family yesterday, so it's still fresh in my mind. Stupid computers...

Thanks for still showing interest! Very Happy

After long last...

It's here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWdKJvM5Y2g

Probably not worth the delays or wait, but it's a BIG victory none the less in the war of Me vs. YouTube.

This is the third 16mm film I've shot. I only had 2 rolls of film (roughly 4.5 minutes total) to use.

Disclaimer time: This was recorded on a miniDV camera while the film was being screened. As such, there's a strobe effect. Details and colors were lost in the translation and compression of the film. Credits and audio were added in post. There's no music credits, because I changed it at the last minute and decided not to include them. Due to scheduling, the film was shot without a DP.

You might be wondering where I am in the film (or not). I had to cut myself out, but I was originally in the baseball scene as a cowboy sheriff.

Hard to read:
The card reads: "To Dad (crossed out) Me! Love me (smiley face with !!!!! for eyes).

EDIT
Holy crap! The film still looks horrible. Stupid wmv format. I'll try to improve the video later (cause even I can barely make out anything). Since the film is 22 days late already, I'll leave it up till I can find another solution.

Haha! That was great! Very amusing, and an excellent choice of soundtrack.

Some nice motion shots with the scooter, too -- were you driving alongside with a car, or did you have something fancier?

Oh, and...

I REMEMBER THAT EPISODE!!! It all suddenly clicked in my head at the end. Man, it's been so long since I watched any He-Man. I did, however, watch the Dolph Lundgren movie again a couple months back.

THANK YOU! Very Happy

The scooter shots were done in my "film van" which is a normal minivan with the seats removed, either shooting out of the back with the trunk door up or the side door open. The film camera got messed up for those scenes and shot it at a higher speed than 24 fps and thus they look slower than we shot it. However, we've done the same thing with DV films to fantastic results. As a side note, the star of "Orko Party" and I are still trying to write an action movie that will involve that hill area and would feature a lot of car chases.

Also glad to hear you were watching my favorite movie of all time ^_^
