I love movie trailers. Great movie trailers are like an art of their own. They're more than mere advertising, which just tells you what the movie is about, shows you some of the killer scences and then expects you to watch the movie. Great trailers are awesome on their own. They're like movie box art in that way. Even if the movie sucked balls they wouldn't be diminished by it.

Leaving out anything 80's (because I'm sure others here are much more knowledgeable in that era than I am) these are three of my favorite trailers:

A Clockwork Orange

It's satiric, it's musical, it's bizarre, it's thrilling, it's frightening. I'm sure you can figure out why I love this trailer.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Yeah, they swapped The Bad and The Ugly. Apart from that I love the trailer for its minimal voice-over.

Frenzy

Hitchcock made appearances in many of the trailers for his movies. They were usually humorous like this. Him casually floating in the Themes like a corpse aswell as the exaggerated "FRENZY" make this one my favorite.

So what are your favorite trailers?

That fake Shining trailer is awesome. I love how they edited Danny opening the door to room 237 and him entering Jack's room together. Still I like the original Shining trailer better:

Pretty much all trailers to Kubrick's movies are great. I wouldn't be surprised if he edited them himself.

EDIT: Here's another great Kubrick trailer made by famed movie title designer Pablo Ferro.

The first Spider-Man had a GREAT teaser trailer. So great, enemies of this country had to retaliate because it was so good.

And my sincere apologies for that nuttiness... Embarrassed

"If you will not tell me, I will hurt people!!!" -Nuclear Man

"Do you hear? The alpha and the omega. Death and rebirth. And as you die, so will I be reborn!" - Skeletor
