From the 8-bit: The Blue Bomber's second adventure that introduced the standard of eight Robot Masters, energy tanks and a map of Wily's castle, not to mention a memorable soundtrack.
From the 16-bit: A joint effort by Square and Nintendo that cemented the Italian plumber's Renaissance man reputation.
Like a lot of you doubtlessly were, Mega Man 2 was how I was first introduced to the franchise. It was Easter 1990 at my cousins' place, which is all can remember of the first five months of that year. Needless to say, though I didn't play it myself at the time, I was swayed by what I saw. Funny thing, though...when my brother brought the cartridge in, I could've sworn he said "Double Dragon", and I'm pretty sure I had a fair idea of what that game looked like even then. Incidentally, I beat that game last night.

Mega Man 2. Mario RPG is great too, but MM2 was just awesome and in my opinion the best one in the franchise, and one of my favorite games of all time. It also had some of my favorite robot masters, like Air Man, Heat Man and Quick Man.

Mega Man 2 just might be the best NES platformer short of SMB3

Holy shit, this is the hardest choice ever.
Meh, there's still a couple of things about Mega Man 2 that piss me off. The fact that there's no clear cut rock paper scissors order for the weapons, losing all your energy tanks when you die, not being able to finish Heat Man's stage with out the Jet Sled....
Super Mario RPG, however. That's practically flawless.

the block jumping part of heat man's stage isn't as hard as it's cracked up to be...I used to think so too when I was young, but now I can do it just fine without the item. Just gotta learn the timing...
As much as I liked Super Mario RPG, I never had the desire to play through it again after beating it. It was also fairly short and easy, but a really fun game nonetheless. MM2 is timeless and one of the few games I can pick up and play anytime. It was the first megaman I ever played and my favorite in the series.

Cuz quickman's stage without flash stopper is any easier? They're both doable.

Surprisingly, Quick Man's stage withouth Time Stopper is slightly easier. Not by much though.
