So apparently Dimension Films bought the rights to doing a remake of Short Circuit.

Is this one of the repercussions of the writer's strike, because they are lacking original scripts? Or is it just another case of Hollywood being unoriginal/playing it safe?

The first one is a classic, the second one is gay, Johnny 5 is pretty cool but I cant see how a third one could do anything but suck.

What could a 3rd Johnny 5 movie POSSIBLY be about. Confused

Since it seems like it'll be a remake, they'll just use the story of the first one and generally update it for today's audience. Seeing how a lot of people consider anything not produced within the last ten years as "old", I guess you can't really blame Dimension for doing it.

And, the new Johnny 5 will probably look nothing like the original, because instead of wasting time on Remote Contolled Devices and Puppeteers, they will just make him CGI, so he can do stupid shit like tap dance and have "human like" facial features and expressions.

So, yeah, new movie = FAIL!

Pretty soon, itll be nothing but a two hour advertisement with bad jokes, cheesy "FaceOff" action, bouncing fake boobs in seemingly revealing bras around in circles.

then, the universe will turn into a endlessly shrinking one like in that episode of star trek TNG where crusher's universe gets smaller and smaller.

and there will still be boobs.

Sad you're probably right.

Maybe he'll team up with The Indian Guy and Stefanie over the internet to stop a sinister myspace peddo, and Nova Robotics will still have NO IDEA where their expensive runaway war machine is at. Rolling Eyes It will be even more heavily plugged that the second one, he'll be covered in Window's Vistas logos and have a Halo 3 faceplate, he'll use up to date slang, and hack people's Wi Fi laptops and cellphones with that little waving attena thing on his head.

When i heard about this i was horrified. I did enjoy the first one and . . . dare i say i did also enjoy the second one, it's just that . . . why. Why can't the 2000s stop raping the 1980s for at least the rest of the 2 years before the 2010s start raping the 1990s.

At least there will be sweet justice in knowing that whatever the 2000s shat out will be raped by the 2020s, if the pattern follows suite.

But wait a minute, if the 2000s do nothing but rape the 1980s and have no original material for the 2020s to rape would that mean the 2020s will just in turn rape the 1980s.

ZOMG, Hollywood Paradox!!!!

I am going to declare a challenge, since the turn of the millennium has there been anything that has not already been done, i.e. a remake or attempts to revive a dead franchise?

They're already doing that, they restarted the Hulk franchise and that piece of crap just came out a few years ago.

Dunno if thats considered remake or just reinvisioning. Cause if it was then they are remaking the remake of the Punisher.

I thought the Punisher was okay. I kept forgetting that it was supposed to be a movie about the damn punisher, but it was decent entertainment.

Casting Edward Norton as Bruce Banner already makes it 1000X more awesome.

You know what's funny, sin city, 300 and the matrix were the first movies i thought someone might respond with and no country for old men is a good choice for the agrument even though i havent seen it yet.

How about this, can anyone list all the remakes and revive of old franchies in the past 8 years. Bonus fake points if you point out the ones that originally were from the 1980s.

BTW, there is also a live action Akira in the works, thoughts?
