From the 8-bit: A Tetris-style puzzle game wherein one or two players guide different-colored pills dropped by Mario onto same-colored viruses.
From the 16-bit: A port of a city-building simulation game with some Nintendo characters thrown in.
Take your pick.

This is actually a good matchup. Dr Mario is really addictive. But for me, I love the Sim City franchise. And while the original isn't as in depth as the sequels, it is so basic that it remains a sold game IMO.

Sim Ciy is great but sucks on the nintendo, just like all Sim games ported to consoles, if you want to play simcity or simant or simbum or simwhatthefuckever play it on your computer. Dr. Mario is way better, because I played it in the hospital as a child, and that is why I am here today.

speaking of sim city:
Quote: |
Loved the value of Valve's five-games-in-one Orange Box, but wish its contents focused a little more on, say, city zoning ordinances? Then boy does Electronic Arts have the deal for you. The publisher today announced The SimCity Box, which will compile SimCity Societies, the SimCity Societies: Destinations expansion pack, SimCity 4, the SimCity 4: Rush Hour expansion pack, and The Sims Carnival: SnapCity into one package. EA values the whole thing at $100, but it'll go on sale this June for $39.99.
You can check out our coverage for each game by clicking on their respective pages, but SnapCity takes a little more consideration. Part of the casual-focused "Carnival" brand of Sims titles (which also includes the intriguing build-your-own-game Sims Carnival website), it's actually more of a falling-blocks puzzle game than a city-building simulation -- although you do build cities, in a sense, through the arrangement of the falling pieces.
"The SimCity Box is the perfect opportunity to discover the fun of city building with SimCity," said Rod Humble, head for The Sims Studio. "This is the greatest value SimCity has ever offered and players everywhere can get hands-on with a wide range of SimCity products from one box at an amazing price."
If you've never been into the SimCity games before, this is a perfect chance to get caught up with the recent history of the series. But it also makes us wonder -- could this be a precursor to an impending announcement for SimCity 5? Cross your fingers, wannabe city planners.
Need to find out more about the SimCity series before you're willing to leap into this purchase? Be sure to listen to the Retronauts episode devoted to the series from a couple of weeks ago |

That Sim pack fails because it doesn't come with SimPrison. SimCity is no fun when you can't ship off the Sims who complain about your 10% tax rate to prison, effectively creating a police state ruled by fear.
But to be fair, those taxes go to pay for the upkeep of the hospitals, police stations, fire stations, zoos, and soccer stadiums that you've placed on every other city block for their protection and amusement. So really, they should shut the fuck up anyway.

"Sim City Monarchy" that would be a good game set in the middle ages time. You can kill your peasants if they bitch about taxes or simply through them in prison.
It would be like Sims crossed with Warcraft 3
But I'm sure I played a game like that before

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

Playing Dr. Mario in a hospital is very cliche |
Uh... I'm pretty sure cliche is not the word you're looking for. Apropos maybe?

Actually I thought that SimCity was the only game of the series that was acceptable on a console.

And SimCity edges out Dr. Mario. Looking ahead, I didn't think much of this one, but wow.
