I did find Sydlexia April Fool's joke very amusing, and for roughly half a second I thought why this is for real.

However it's fairly obvious that reviewing NES games is not against the law, nor is talking about them over chat. Maybe... maybe animated pics of kirby or their chracacters doing things would be something Nintendo would be interested in. But I highly doubt they'd be crackin' down on Syd's massive site, that attracts thousands of people on a daily basis.

Esepcialyl when Syd is not using their content for any personal monetary gain, nor is he taking away from nintendo sales, in any real way, if anything he's promoting it, and their sales.. Through advocating for Nintendo's awesomeness through giving many a positive reviews on their consoles, and stirring up discussions of nintendo related things.

Anyway clearly this is an april's fool Joke, even though it was pretty well done.

One last reason, if Syd was closing his website, for this kind of reason, he'd definitly leave his forums up for the hell of it, or at least offer a suggestion for a forum where we all could keep in touch, without having to do some scramble thing, of getting the e-mails of those we like the most. (And yes please everyone stop Pming me for mine, this is an april's fools joke).

Anyway that's my reasoning for why it's a joke (well that and becuase april's fools is around the corner)

So what do you guys all think? I vote it's a joke.

One where do you get off cussin' young lady? You have to be a role-model for your brothers : ). Secondly if Syd was actually closing the site, you wouldnt' be calling everyone idiots right/saying what you're saying. I must say though Kryslexia you're a much better actress than Vold : ) Also Jeebus would be saying his goodbyes as well, the guy has to ruin the whole plan for everybody by not showing his face... shows he has no consideration for alittle fun, even if he doesn't get much fun out of it, he could do it to humor Syd... tsk tsk... one day, he'll come around, let's just hope he's not 55 at the time...

I would beg to differ, a month or so.. yeah i can see your point, (but there would still be other flaws)...

One is when the news just hits you, it doesn't really matter how long until shut down, you still will at first make some suggestions for solution, and say your goodbyes, and spread out contact info, for those keeping in touch...

Simply out of reactoin to the news that your site would be shut down, even if it was say going to be shut-down in a year. (after that initial wave things would go back to normal until the time gets nearer, where the information woudl take effect)

Furthermore that wasn't the case it wasn't goign to happen in year, it was going to happen in a week and half... that's not very far off.. And again once new like that hits you, you react to it immediately, even if the effect of the news isn't immediate.

Anyway if you don't buy those poitns, which are legitimate, since.. i guess the only way tou could understand them, is if someone came and told your bike's going to be taken away in a week.. It would not be surprising if you go and ride your bike that very day. Even though you have a week.. since you only have so much time left to interact with it, and part with it.

Similar thing here... you'd see a huge up in posting by Syd, and others... posting on tons of topics, and a strong push for attempting to find ways to keep people in touch with one another..

(of course if he did that it would have been a lot more work, since he'd actualyl have to manually post a lot, and two it'd take away from the whole joke if he gave an altenative/solutions as it woulnd't make people feel as desperate,)

Anyway even if you don't accept that, the nature of language used, by Val, and Kris, and even Syd, as well as the timliness of him posting this message (on april fool's day), all would suggest it's not the case.

Furthermore it woudln't be reasonable, even given you didn't know it was april's fools day, and say you didn't even read what Syd said about it, you just heard the site was getting closed down by Nintendo (so you can't infer by the language or the date this was announced it was fake).. you could still infer it was fake, by understanding the measures Syd was taking was ridiculous shutting down everything including the forums (of course he had to say that to make the april fool's joke better/have people feel more desperate), So there is no reason for that... SEcondly there is no reason for nintendo to even notice Syd's site it's so unlikely, and very unlikely they'd spend resources shutting down a fairly moderate to low, traffic site... They'd shut down bigger places first....

And lastly Nintendo woudln't go after Syd, not only because he's not doing anything illegal, but that he's probably promoting them more than hurting them in any noticeable way.

For all those reasons it was a joke.
