Obama will get his party's nomination. It's what the country wants. If Hillary gets the nomination, it will only be if the superdelegates decide to go against the voters and give the nomination to her. And to do so would absolutely destroy the Democratic party and serve to generally increase voter apathy/cynicism for years to come.
However, this could very well hurt Obama in the general election.
Fortunently for Obama, the people it hurts his image with the most probably wouldn't have been voting for him anyway.
That said. it will hurt him, because people do tend to pander to these shallow, bullshit issues. What's hurting him even more is Hillary Clinton's stubborness to stay in the race.
