JUST when you thought that the game industry was running out of ideas and there were only so many orphans that could be rescued from destroyed villages, it seems that a new game is being released based on the dire flick Juno.
Yep, it seems there will finally be a video game based around getting Ellen Page up the duff.
According to Gamespot there are indications that the independent film about a preggers teen, played by Ellen Page, will be getting the game treatment.
Quite how this film would translate into a game is unknown. The movie, although popular, ended up re-enforcing the status quo without tackling any of the main issues related to teen pregnacy. So maybe a fun game might be the way forward.
Fox Searchlight Pictures, the studio behind Juno has been chatting to executives in the games industry. Former Eidos Interactive president and current intellectual-property migration specialist Keith Boesky made comments which GameSpot interpreted as indicating that a casual game based on the film is in development.
He added that he had not seen the film which might explain his enthusiasm.
Others in the dark satanic rumour mill that is the world wide wibble are fairly sure that something is happening.
The rumour is that Crave Entertainment and 7 Studios have been hired and 7 Studios is advertising for developers of a "portable puzzle based game," a " next generation third person action/adventure original IP," and a "third person action fighting game based on a movie/comic licence."
We can safely assume that it is not the third person fighting game. More shoot it up, rather than shoot 'em up we imagine.

Yeah, I read about this rumor and its been cleared up already:

Last week, the gaming industry experienced a sudden, collective shudder when news broke of an impending video game adaptation of the teen-pregnancy comedy Juno. Well, we can all breath a sigh of relief -- to put it as one character from the film might, this is one doodle that's just been undid, homeskillet.
Turns out the story was the result of a misunderstanding. GameSpot originally reported from the D.I.C.E. Summit last week that Keith Boesky, a specialist in intellectual property migration, made certain comments during a speech that were interpreted as confirmation of a Juno video game. This interpretation was incorrect, however, as Boesky later clarified his statements (which GameSpot's updated story now reports), saying, "The reference to Juno was made when I analogized a low-budget, small game breaking out and being a hit to examples from the film business like Juno." He also stated that he's yet to see the film.
So no, as far as anyone knows, there is no Juno video game in development, nor are there any plans for one. We regret our error, and rejoice in this victory in the continued struggle against terrible, terrible ideas. |

Knowing the industry, Juno: The Video Game would just be a hi-def rip-off of the end of Custer's Last Stand.
