Supposedly it's called "Cloverfield".

I love how people are talking about it and trying to figure it out like "Lost" ^_^

I want it to be a Godzilla movie.

I mean, it's the classic Godzilla setup. Something comes from space, starts killing everyone, and then Godzilla comes and saves the day.

Hell yes.

We just re-rented the most recent "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" movie last night. One of only two Godzilla movies that I don't own.

However, if you want to see the best one ever, rent Godzilla: Final Wars immediately. It gets my vote for best action movie ever. EVER.

I'm guessing that J.J. Abrams movie is not a Godzilla movie, though. If it is, they screwed up his roar big time. Even the Devlin/Emmerich version didn't do that. Also, Paramount doesn't own the rights to Godzilla.

Some people have speculated that the mention of Rob moving to Japan and the monster's lion-like roar is some kind of hint towards what this movie will be about.

Shrouded in secrecy, the new film by JJ Abrams and Bad Robot is kind of a cross between Armegeddon and The Blair Witch Project. Cloverfield, whose teaser trailer premiered in front of Transformers in theaters across the country, is about a monster attack on New York City, as shot by a bunch of people with handheld cameras.

Little is known about the project, other than that it stars a group of mostly-unknown actors and that the budget is slated at about $30 million. It will be released on January 18th. Surely, there will be more information as the film gets closer, but even the folks at Bad Robot are disavowing any knowledge of the project.

BTW, it's written by Drew Goddard who wrote "Lost" episodes:
* "Outlaws"
* "The Glass Ballerina"(with Jeff Pinkner)
* "Flashes Before Your Eyes"(with Damon Lindelof)
* "The Man from Tallahassee"(with Jeff Pinkner)
* "One of Us"(with Carlton Cuse)
* "The Man Behind the Curtain"(with Elizabeth Sarnoff)
He's also written for "Alias", "Angel", and "Buffy".

The film's directed by Matt Reeves ("Felicity"). Bryan Burk ("Lost", "Alias", "What About Brian", "Six Degrees") is also producing.

This is feeling like the first real Bad Robot Production film. "JoyRide" was also made by the company, but at least this film is being headed by all people J.J.'s worked with on TV (meaning Clay Tarver and John Dahl never helped out on any Abram's series Evil

At the Paramount Comic-Con press conference, J.J. Abrams dropped some details on his as-yet-untitled horror/monster flick slated for a 1/18/2008 release.

In spite of internet buzz, the movie will not be called "Monstorous."

Abrams said the goal is to produce an American monster movie on-par with Japanese big-rubber-suit classics like Godzilla. Abrams said shooting is all but complete, a new trailer, a poster and more footage are on the way.
