My faith in Stallone has been rekindled.

It looked like he decapitated that guy with his bare hands. That would be awesome.

So if he makes another Judge Dredd movie, will it just be called Judge Dredd?

I'm assuming they'd use his first name - Mortimer Dredd.

Why are they calling these movies by the names of the characters as opposed to their chronologically designated number in the series?

My only guess as to why would be because they haven't had a Rambo or Rocky movie in theatres for years, so coming out with a part 4 would confuse the kids of today or something...but almost everyone I know, young and old, has seen or heard of Rocky and Rambo.

That's exactly why, because of the time gap. It's the trendy thing to do. That's why Alien 4 was called Alien Resurrection and why Child's Play 4 was Bride of Chucky.

Actually, I think the fact that no one likes to remember Rocky V and Rambo III has something to with it too.

Explain this... Jurassic Park:
# 1 = Jurassic Park
#2 = The Lost World
#3 = Jurassic Park III

Why the hell doesn't number two reference the fact that it's number two?

It's just everyone copying Sam Raimi.

He did it first with:

Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn
Bruce Cambell vs The Army Of Darkness.

(See? No mention of Evil Dead 1 or 2 in the third's title.)

And, as for John Rambo, I am truly excited about this movie, after seeing that kick-ass trailer.

The Lost World was based off a book of the same name and at the time, everyone KNEW it was the sequel to Jurassic Park.

People aren't retarded, and not every sequel needs to reference the fact that it's a sequel. Like House of 1,000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects. Or Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider. Or the Dirty Harry movies.

Syd has a valid point.

Looks at the Bond films.

Not a single one was named James Bond or 007, yet everyone knows that they are movies from the same series.

I am really glad that they didn't use numbers in the naming convention.

Casino Royale sounds way better then James Bond 21.

I think Rambo got tired of running with a gun, now there's a conveniently-placed machine gun turret everywhere he goes.

That's because he never carries a "normal" gun. You never see him with just a M16, or a AK-47. He has to have the largest, heaviest, belt-fed, "Light Machine Gun" he can find. And, unfortunately at his age, I don't think Stallone can run around carrying a 30 pound gun, with another 20-30 lbs of ammo on a belt.

So, instead, now he just decapitates his enemies with his bare hands. Because that is much more plausible. Wink

And sometimes the numbering gets dropped because one movie desperately needs to be dropped from canon.

Highlander, anyone? Superman? Wink

Oh.

Yeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Jew showed me a clip on Ain't it Cool News. More violence in that clip than in all of the Rambo movies combined.

jurassic park was based on a book.

the second book by that author was called the lost world.

the movie barely resembled the book.

jurassic park III was just a cash in attempt and didn't follow so and so's prior work.

also, the movie was called "The Lost World: Jurrassic Park" otehr reigons had it under different names, some reigons even called it "jurrassic park II"

Wow... thanks JEW... if Syd hadn't already covered all that info on Jurassic Park, it may actually be interesting!
Furthermore, I wasn't actually asking about Jurassic Park, I was just pointing out yet another trilogy that isn't entitled I, II and III

HOLY SHIT! Shocked I just watched the trailer. He definitly was using a knife to cut the guys head off, and that point blank turrent was sweet. Plus sly ripping someones throat out with his bare hands what the hell more could you possibly want from him? Anyway you guys can back to your Jurrasic Park theme now.
