Has ANYONE ever beat Double Dragon 3? I had all the game genie codes on and still died in the first level.
Bad Dudes for the NES is craptacular, but I've got the "Thanks for saving me dudes! Lets go get a burger! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" as my wallpaper now.
The best part is the terrible voice clip of "IM BAD!" everytime you beat a boss. |
Holy crap, Bad Dudes and Double Dragon 3, two of my most memorable games from back in the day.
Bad Dudes was so bad it was good. True, the NES version paled in comparison to the arcade, but it was so easy to pick up and play that anybody with thumbs could beat the shit out of some ninjas with some nunchuks and drink energy reviving soda/beer. Ridiculous, but strangely satisfying levels tops off Bad Dudes. And yes, the "I'm Bad" after each boss with Blade or Striker showing off their incredible muscles while you were forced to "go to next stage" were also highlights of Data East's spectacular nes version of the "Arcade Hit!" If you liked this game you'll love Heavy Barrel, but I will say no further.
Okay enough with Bad Dudes. Anyway, this friend of mine paid me 40 bucks to find him a copy of Double Dragon 3 for him. I did, as well as purchasing myself several game genies to beat the game. Even with the game genies it took us forever to actually conquer the final boss. The ending was the biggest disappointment I have ever experienced playing an nes game, all i remember is some lame end story and some poorly drawn close up shots of billy, jimmy, chin, and ranzou. We were so pissed that the ending was crap that I don't think we've played the game since.
So, Blackout Boy, I have indeed beaten DD3, but only with a friend while using two game genies. Was it worth it? Not really. Would it have been worth it if we hadn't cheated? No, but it would have infuriated me to the point where I would have thrown my nes advantage controller through the television after I saw the ending.
