There was a movie they used to show us in Elementary school on days when it was raining and we couldn't go outside for recess. It was one of like tapes the school had, along with Witches, The Neverending Story, and A Christmas Story. I don't remember a lot about it, but here's what I remember:

The movie is from 1990 at the latest, probably earlier. Movie is rated either G or PG, probably PG.

The plot involves some kid who has an invisible/ghost friend who no one else believes is real. His invisible friend convinces him to make a potion that will give him a corporeal form. So the kid mixes up a bunch of stuff and gives it his friend and then I forget exactly what happens. Either they switch places or the guy gets a body. Either way, he turns out to be evil. Then he gets stopped and everyone lives happily ever.

It doesn't ring any bells for me, but i tried google some stuff and i end up with many links to Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. It sounds familiar to me, but I just don't remember seeing a movie like that. Drop Dead Fred comes to mind, it was made in 1991:

Is Drop Dead Fred what you are looking for?

Dear God, I hope they didn't show you Drop Dead Fred in elementary school. No one deserves that, much less children.

No, not Drop Dead Fred. The main character in this was a boy. And Drop Dead Fred actually helped the main character empower herself in that movie. Also, he was kind of a Beetlejuice rip-off.

Also, Drop Dead Fred was PG-13.

Yah, i was reaching for straws anyway. Shoot, it sounds familiar but I can't think of what it was. Do you remember the evil acts the invisible did, that might help in the search? I don't know, it sounds like something Disney would make while high.

I remember when Drop Dead Fred was coming out, because I wanted to see it on account of Rik Mayall being in it, and I'm a huge fan of The Young Ones.

But it's... just not good.
