I don't understand why people say it's the true sequel to Mario 64. Galaxy looks dumbed down and slow paced compared to Mario 64. Sunshine had more crazy jumping and action than this and was basically Mario 64 with a water pack. Mario Galaxy looks like it has a bad camera angle and all the levels look restrictive. Bee Suit Mario looks dumb. I don't even understand what it is player 2 is doing. Is he shooting stars at enemies?
I'm getting my info from here:

I found one cool thing, it's near the end of this video:

The music going to the pace of Mario's speed of travel while balancing on the ball was amusing.

Yeah, I'd be kinda pissed at those levels. I also have no clue what P2 is doing there.

I don't get why people are excited about Bee Suit Mario. It's the same hover-in-place stuff as Fludd was, but now it's a BEE SUIT OMG SO FUN.

I don't understand why people hated Super Mario Sunshine. It was essentially a better version of Mario 64. I can empathize with people who hated the clean-up levels, but the rest of the game was pretty damn awesome.

I have to get Sunshine. I've been trying for a while, but it's pretty damn hard to get a copy around here for some reason.

It looks alright, kind of nasiating. I haven't played Sunshine so i cannot give an opinion. I probably would like Mario 64 better because 64 was simpler and . . . well it just kicks asss!!!!.

The only real flaw with Mario 64 is that all the boss battles are retardedly easy. This is especially true of Bowser. The Bowser battles are just plain tedious.

Trying to do the last Bowser battle on SM64 DS was giving me fits. It was a snap on N64, but the stylus "functionality" almost saw my DS fly out of a window.

In short, Galaxy is one of the most impressive, engrossing games in recent memory -- and quite the contrast to the rest of this year's triple-A gaming crop, which tends toward the dark, the M-rated, and the first-person perspective. Gaming may be growing up (per se), but gamers will always appreciate beautifully polished gameplay and inventive design...even if it's sugarcoated with squeaky baby stars and a goofy cartoon of a hero. Galaxy proves that Mario matters just as much today as he did 25 years ago, and that makes him one of a kind in this medium. But don't play Galaxy simply because Mario is the timeless godfather of gaming. No, play Galaxy because it's fantastic. |
Damn, I cant wait to get a Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy Sells 250,000 in One Week
To nobody's surprise, Super Mario Galaxy has managed to sell a ton of units in its first week on Japanese store shelves.
Japanese chart trackers Media Create pegged the numbers for Mario's latest romp at more than a quarter million units. All told, 251,000 copies of Galaxy flew off store shelves last week -- a figure smaller than the 265,000 units Mario Party 8 took in during its first week. |

Judging by the lack of updates to this thread, I'm guessing no one has Galaxy yet.
Well, I do. The game is fucking fantastic. Most importantly, the controls are very well done. The initial tutorial level is kinda dumb, but after that the game gets really fun, really fast. I like it a lot.
