The decision to cast a real monkey as Chim Chim in the Speed Racer movie was a daring one, no doubt. Now, it might be backfiring on the Wachowski Brothers. Seems the little chimp has been biting human actors on set, and, as a result, there are reports that he's been getting beaten, which is making PETA really upset.
They wrote a letter of protest to producer Joel Silver asking for him to remove the live actor and replace it with animatronics. On the other hand, members of the Amerian Humane Society who are on set are assuring PETA that the monkey is not being harmed in the least bit.

South Korean pop star Rain will take another step towards becoming an international film star with a leading role; he also plays a supporting role in the Wachowski's upcoming "Speed Racer."

In any case, I put my hopes on this film. Hope it doesn't suck. Might look like that bizarre cartoon "NASCAR Racers" but anyways...

Love the Mach 5. But I'll reserve judgement on the film until I see it. I'm always skeptical when a cartoon is made into a live action movie,

is it just me, or does it look like speed is racing inside a giant pinball machine? w/all the colors and bright lights and what-not.
