How the fuck can Mewtwo be 150 if Mew is 151?

The second version can't sequentially exist before the first!

Because...the fucktards either created mewtwo then realized they should make a mew, or there was a horrid translation issue on the american side Wink

My bet has to be on translation.

I mean, I know the Pokedex is supposed to be the order in which the Pokemon were discovered, and that's fine. But you wouldn't name something Mewtwo if you hadn't yet discovered there was a Mew.

If I recall correctly (which im sure I dont) they originally cloned Mewtwo out of fossil DNA from Mew, because he was a legendary PokeMon who no longer existed. Then the cartoon came out and he actually did exist. So, Nintendo decided to bring out Mew as a special addition where you had to send in your pokemon game and they would add it to your PokeDex.

Of course, this is all from memory of old Nintendo Power magazines which I no longer have or have read in 10+ years. So, there's a great chance im wrong lol

You could actually get Mew in the original games without sending in your copy to Nintendo or using a Gameshark.

I'd try the trick myself but I don't feel like playing through the game just to see it with my own eyes. Especially since you can't get running shoes in the first series. As if I'm going to walk everywhere, or spend the fifteen seconds it takes to equip my bike instead. Rolling Eyes

Mew was a secret event only pokemon so it only made sense not to make it obvious it existed back then. No one bothered to fix that in the following generations.

Mew was programmed into the original Pokemon games, which predated the cartoon. He wasn't obtainable through normal means though. You either had to go to a special Nintendo-sponsored event where they'd upload him to your game if you wanted to get him. That, or you could use Gameshark or you exploit a weird game glitch to get him. Nintendo has since done this with other Pokemon. I believe Deoxys, Celebi, and a few others can't be obtained by normal means either.

Yeah I've done the "Mew Glitch" too, just so I'd have the stupid thing. Couldn't it learn like all of the TM moves?

Also I remember that somewhere in the game there were these journals that chronicled the discovery of Mew, and the creation of Mewtwo.

Good old Mew. We exploited the bugger from one person's gameshark or game genie. Fun times... However, now I can never reset my game, because I can never get him again.

According to serebii, the japanese names are "myuutsu" and "myuu", but two is "ni", so I'll blame translation.

A friend of mine managed to get legit versions of Jirachi, Deoxys, Celebi, Lugia, Ho-oh, Latios, and Latias all on hi DS. He's only missing like 9 to the National Dex.
