I'm not saying that wrestling today is no good...I'm just saying I personally THINK it was way better a few years ago. I found myself watching No Mercy 2007 and the only thing I could think to myself was how I missed tables and ladders and chairs....
There is this fuckhead with a shilele (sp?)
and I'm just like, where'd the good shit go? I miss TLC matches between the hardys, dudleys, and e+c
Those were good ass matches to watch and entertaining...
DEVON!!!!
GET THE TABLES!!!
I mean..what the fuck happened?

To TNA, apparently.
TNA is more plot-driven than it used to be, but the matches, especially the PPV matches, are a lot better than the current WWE fare.

They're about on an even level in my book. WWE loses for length and predictability in matches, but TNA loses for 80 zillion run-ins and the fans constantly chanting TNA like it's 1995-era ECW or something.
Though, TNA does have Black Machismo...

Run-ins can be annoying, but they work. During the height of WCW's popularity in the mid-90s and the WWF's rebirth in the late 90s, almost every match had either a run-in or guys coming down to help out after the match.

It ruins the notion of a guy ever getting a clean win, though. I understand it's used to give some guys airtime who wouldn't get it anyway, but late 90's wrestling TV shticks are a lot of what's wrong with wrestling now. I'd rather have a clean match over a jobber than some PPV rehash with guys running in to ruin the outcome, unless it's used sparingly.

I think I could live the rest of my days quite happily without having to ever witness another Dusty Finish ever again.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. I miss the early days of WCW, WWF, and TNA where there were things like commissioners and championship committees and they presented the thing as a real sport. They used to show you a guy's win and loss record when he came down to the ring. Another problem with wrestling is that after you've been watching it for too long, you get annoyed with anything other than a clean finish. Matches these days are very formulaic, and the whole "oh my god, the ref didn't see it!" situation gets really stupid. I mean, the announcers have an instant replay, why the fuck shouldn't the refs have access to an instant replay. Even worse is when a guy knocks out the ref and then another ref runs out and calls the match like nothing happened. Where was this second ref being kept, in a Quiz Show-style isolation booth? I mean, Christ.

And, the double standard in reffing. A chairshot can happen within two feet of the ref, and he won't hear it. But, before Eddie died, he would bring a chair into the ring, punch it and throw it to his opponent before lying down, and the ref would turn around and yell at the other wrestler. The ref would be pointing to his ears, as if saying, "I heard that!"
