Or whatever the title is. I bought this game, thinking the incredibly rich mecha customization would be satisfying.

Its not. The problem is you never really have the latitude to try out the bajillion options at your disposal. This defeats the purpose of a fully customizable mecha, if you can't make a design or two to deal with an upcoming mission, nor can you ever really experiment with your creations. If you outfit poorly, you can be stonewalled into starting over.

Second is this game is really difficult for me. I mean, I get my ass handed to me in all but the easiest missions.

And its not like the story or characters will carry you through. Its bland as a 2X4.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a secret that unlocks the full enjoyment of mecha customization?
