I just can't believe this fucking moron. Here's my favorite part:

"6. Does your son use Quake?

Quake is an online virtual reality used by hackers. It is a popular meeting place and training ground, where they discuss hacking and train in the use of various firearms. Many hackers develop anti-social tendencies due to the use of this virtual world, and it may cause erratic behaviour at home and at school.

If your son is using Quake, you should make hime understand that this is not acceptable to you. You should ensure all the firearms in your house are carefully locked away, and have trigger locks installed. You should also bring your concerns to the attention of his school. "

T. Reginald Gibbons, some overbearing fucktard of a parent whose Nazi-like control over his kids has now extended to the computer.

EDIT: I'm gullible. It's a joke.

This was indeed writen as a satire year ago. The author was trying to make a point on how people didn't know anything about hackers, and you could tell them anything and they would belive it. Everyone thought that hackers had strange "magical like" powers. The sad thing was that, even still today, most people only know anything about hackers through television and movies. (Johnny Neumonic, Hackers, Wargames, The Lawnmower Man, and now Die Hard 4.)

People don't realize that "hacking" is acually quite tedious and boring. It mostly crunching numbers and writing code. It's not putting on your VR gear and manipulating "Cyberspace" to hack into the Government to bring down civilization.

Well, I feel dumb. I figured it was a joke, but I wasn't quite sure. Still, it's too close to what people like Jack Thompson spout everyday.

There was quite a stir about this when it was originally written. Because anyone who read it, had one of two reactions:

(If they knew anything about computers and their use.) - Laughed at it.
(Everyone Else.) - Believed it to be fact, and starting using it as a guide to keep an eye on thier kids.

Actually, I usually think of the movie with Angelina Jolie.

These are the very first things I thought.

My initial thought was "fuck you American dad!"

followed by "Why in the fuck did you buy a compaq?"

followed by "What the fuck?"

Oh my gosh, if Quake is this bad, is Specialists some kind of Rapist Trainer Cool

I used to say that jokingly about Unreal Tournament 2004. I called it Sexual Predator Profiler 2004, and when you get a bunch of kills it goes "RRRRRRRAPIST", because clearly only a sex offender would practice that much at a violent game.

TS is an online community for hackers and terrorists, where they learn to unlock the inherent bullet-time powers within all humans but suppressed by Xenu when he chose to implant the Thetans into the human population.

That was the absolute funniest part in the entire thing. It blew my mind too because I thought the mighty booksellers were above all that but even they have to bow down, wow.
