Jerry O'Flaherty has been tapped by Warner Bros. to direct its CG-animated Thundercats feature, based on the popular '80s cartoon series, comicbook and toy line.

This will be O'Flaherty’s filmdirecting debut after being an art director on videogames such as Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3 and the Command and Conquer series.

"It feels like a natural thing for me to step into," he said recently. "Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience."

The film will tell the origin of the Thundercats and expands on the major heroes and villains from the series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. The Thundercats are awesome don't me wrong but seriously...they're going to make a movie about it now because why? Is hollywood running out of creativity and resorting to bringing back old ass shit?

I think so sometimes...

TMNT <---it was alright. I like it. It was nowhere as good as the originals

Fantastic Four <---how long were they around before a major motion picture was made?

The Hulk <---see above answer

The list seriously goes on...

I would have liked to have seen it done as a live action film.

But then, you wouldn't want to go anywhere near the theater to see it as it would be filled with furries jacking off the whole time.

Or you would be afraid it would end up like this:

With a bigger special effects and make-up budget, that probably wouldn't be half bad.

Why the hell did they use "One-Winged Angel"?

On a side note, anyone know where I can get that theme?

Yes and the last two years are evidence of this.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children soundtrack would be my guess.

Ewww, not that version it's not the same as the one from FF VII. The whole thing is sung in Japanese in AC's version as opposed to the Latin in the original.

Getting back on topic, Thundercats is more live action calibur than say TMNT (which was a good judgement call in making it CG if not cel animation).
