I fucking hate AIM 6.0.x It is ugly as fucking as fuck and I hope whoever made it gets fucking AIDS and fucking AIDS. They changed the logo and the classic color scheme, and well, everything I liked about AIM. Fuck new features and increased security, I only care about aesthetics, and AIM 6.0's are completely unpleasant. It looks like MSN messenger now, and MSN messenger is a piece of shit.
I have been using AIM 5.9.x, the last good AIM release, and I received notice from AOL this morning that they are going to disable its connectability soon, meaning I will have to use AIM 6.0.x. My question is this, is there any way to make AIM 6.0 less gay? Is there a classic AIM skin for it or anything?

Ever tried Pidgin/GAIM? It's basically AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc., all in one.

They're pulling the plug on AIM 5.9? Damn! I was doing the same thing, just sticking with it. AIM 6 is like a giant slap in the face, where they just...strip away all the options that I used and liked in AIMs past, like being able to turn off smilies completely. It's like this new one devotes itself to being obnoxious.
I've never used Trillian or one of those all-in-one mammajams. I've always just had all three clients, and turned them off and on as I needed them. So now I've got saved chats in ALL different formats!

See I find 6 to be tolerable, but I can't fucking stand Trillian. I had it on my computer for all of 20 minutes before it completely pissed me off and I got rid of it.

I used Windows Live.
I love it, never had a problem with it.
And AIM 6.0 as backup.
I don't know whats so wrong with Windows Live. Maybe I'm just so used to it.
And Trillian in my fucking experience basically just gives you a shitty half-assed version of all messengers bundled into one it's like a fucking iPhone.
I mean chances are the microphone doesn't work a display pic doesn't go through sound files are incompatible and other shit.
Yahoo is for faggots, though, bar none. Anyone who uses it is a communist.
