Throughout history, The Simpsons television show has been notorious for having terrible video games attached to its name. There have been exactly two good Simpsons games over the years:
The Simpsons, Konami's classic beat 'em up
The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Radical Entertainment's GTA parody
And now, from Electronic Arts, we are getting the simply titled The Simpsons Game.
Watch official trailer #2 and tell me that doesn't look badass:

Yeah, this is gonna be pretty good.
Though I'm gonna have to disagree on the arcade game... as much as I like a good beat 'em up, none of Konami's old stuff has aged well at all. It was fun way back when, though. :p

Eh, I think the Simpsons arcade game is still great, as is the TMNT one. And all the NES Castlevanias, both NES Contras, Contra III on the SNES, Circus Charlie, Frogger, Parodius, The 6 player X-Men cabinet... that shit's timeless, man.

I got to agree with Syd on both accounts, the Trailer looks good, I can forsee a lot of the same catch phrases in the game being used to frequently so they might start to get redundant and annoying but it still looks good. Also the Simpsons Arcade game was the shit. Hard as diamond nipples in the cold but completely awesome.

I agree, the game looks cool, but the Simpsons has always been a miss game for me. I would say hit or miss, but most of their catalog falls into the miss category. Anyhow, I thought this was kind of funny as it is related to this game I posted it here:

EA's The Simpsons Game has showcased some hilariously astute parodies of various titles and trends in the gaming industry, but not everyone, it seems, appreciates being the butt of a joke. In an interview with CVG, The Simpsons Game lead designer Greg Rizzer admits they've had to pull a few punches.
I was always under the impression that when you do parody, it's a sign of respect," said Rizzer. "If we make fun of Grand Theft Auto, we're not going to hurt the sales of Grand Theft Auto... But yeah, we've definitely had some reactions -- we've had to pull stuff from the game." |

Damn, I remember late nights on the SNES playing Turtles in Time. Good times.

It looks pretty good, but I hope it's not full of voice clips like Hit & Run.

Satire is held as a PROTECTED FORM OF FREE SPEECH. If EA wants to parody Rockstar, those cunts at Rockstar have absolutely no legal recourse. Fuck EA for giving in. Timesplitters 2 had a series of challenges that were parodies of other FPS-style games, specifically Half-Life, Red Faction, and Turok.

You wandered around the street until you saw a piece of paper floating by. When you jumped on the paper, you were given a choice of two levels to play, Temple of Maggie, Bartzilla, Bart's Bloodstream, Itchy and Scratchy, Bartman, etc. There were two parts to each level, but you only got to do one at a time. When you completed all the levels, you woke up and got an 'A' on your paper.

I liked some of the old simpsons games, mostly cus I was a kid.
I played the demo of this game, it controls kind of wierd, but it really is a good game, and the voice clips aren't annoying, etc.
