I really hope Fred Thompson doesn't get his party's nomination. Here's a guy who quit the Senate to be on Law & Order, then quit Law & Order to try and become president. And this is a guy that people want to vote for? What the fuck!? If he were somehow elected president, who's to say he wouldn't just get bored and quit THAT job too?
His campaign slogan should be: "FRED THOMPSON - BECAUSE AMERICA LOVES A QUITTER"

On the one hand I agree with you; the guy's a total douchenozzle.
On the other hand, his wife is HOT.
Tough decision.

I agree with you too. No on the other hand if Fred Dryer ran I'd vote for him.

Haven't really been wowed by the guy, and didn't know anything about him to begin with. Meanwhile, Rudy has been saying some great things regarding international relations (including expanding NATO into Pacific Ocean countries), so my support of him has been solidifying as of late. Probably going to make a donation by buying some of his online merchandise soon.

Obviously by "great things" you're not lumping in the fact that he's as chickenshit as they come when it comes to backing what he believes. Case in point: his recent NRA speech, where he backed off EVERYTHING HE'S SAID AND DONE OVER THE PAST 15 YEARS when it comes to gun control.
The guy is trying to reinvent himself seemingly overnight into a guy who is conservative enough to be an effective Republication president. Newsflash: it isn't working for Romney, and it's not going to work for Rudy.

Actually, it might work for Rudy. Romney has a lot of things working against him. He's a failed senatorial candidate and one term governor, so he's not exactly a seasoned politician. Also, he offered his lieutenant governor and the state's Republicans absolutely no help in their bid to retain the governor's office. Also, he keeps saying he wants to run American like a corporation. And with all the corporate scandals that have come to light over the last 8 years, that's a terrible fucking idea.
On top of that, he's Mormon and the majority of Americans are too goddam ignorant to see Mormonism as anything other than "that thing where you can have multiple wives", even though such pratices were halted in 1890.
Rudy has eased up on one issue thus far: guns. He also didn't really say anything to the NRA about guns, other than "things have changed since 9/11". He didn't say, "Hey if you stupid fucking rednecks want the right to buy assault rifles, by God, I pledge to sign legislation to help you get those assault rifles."
If and when Rudy starts to waver on his pro-choice stance, that's when you know he's truly sold out.

Romney is the GOP king of flip-flopping for votes right now, so Rudy isn't that bad by comparison. Besides, Rudy has always been wish-washy on social issues. I'm socially moderate and strongly conservative for foreign policy, so Rudy's a good fit for me.
Basically, Rudy will live and die on foreign policy. I think enough people, including me, will conclude that we can compromise on social issues in the interest of national security, and vote for Rudy.

Giuliani is the pragmatic choice and I think a lot of people in the GOP are starting to realize that. Bush's approval rating has been awful for quite awhile now, which makes it clear that America doesn't want another neocon and the centrist voters that swing elections aren't going to vote for one. Giuliani is not a favorite candidate of the Christian Right. He's Catholic for one, and he's a lapsed one at that. The Christian Right would rather have Thompson or Huckabee, but it's doubtful that either of them could win a national election. Giuliani, on the other hand, could. This creates an interesting dynamic. Usually candidates have to bend to fit the party mold. Giuliani is in a position where the Party needs him more than he needs them.

I'd still have him as president than other people with the last name of Thompson.
My personal favorite is Rudy Giuliani.

I still say Hulk Hogan should've run in 2000, as the oval office promos would've been awesome. And any country insane enough to vote in an aging roidboy to run shit, would be one other countries would want to leave alone.
Still... "Whatcha gonna do, Bin Laden, when the red white and blue and the largest arms in the world run wild on yoooooou?!" as he rips his suit off and shit. I'd have run right out to join the army.

At Wrestlemania 20, Vince McMahon and Donald Trump pledged to put a wrassler in the White House in 2008. And yet here we are, barely a year away from the election and there's no wrestler candidate.

I'm still sad Ventura didn't consider running. I've seen him in person a couple of times at lectures and I really enjoy his viewpoints and the fact that he can be articulate and thoughtful without being a smug douchebag.

If a wrestler becomes the president of the united states, will he be an american face here but an evil foreigner on diplomatic visits? This could be very bad for international politics.
Oh, and we do not need an actor for president.

We already did. |
That's right. Cattivo was president for most of the 80s. We all hope he'll run again some day.

Well, I'll run in 2016, which is the 1st year I'll be eligible. I just run a viral marketing campaign online.

Sure it would. You just need someone better than Fred Thompson. Here's a list of actors who I would vote for if they ran for president:
Bill Cosby
Clint Eastwood
Will Smith
A reconstituted bionic stem cell perfect clone of Ronald Reagan
Bruce Willis
That is all. I would not vote for Jack Nicholson. Motherfucker couldn't even keep us safe from trading cards.

I'd vote for:
Morgan Freeman
Dennis Haysbert
Samuel L. Jackson
Jay Sherman
Roger Rabbit
And Cobra Commander: King of Fucking Everything!

No. Kiefer Sutherland is Canadian. Jack Bauer is 100% American. But he's also not an actor.
