I know a few guys on these forums watch it. Now that Book 3: Fire's been shown a few episodes I'm just curious what everyone thinks. Also, I saw this after the episode yesterday and thought it was awesome:

My uncle burned me the first season to watch on the computer. It was pretty interesting, but you have to admit that Appa is a total rip off of Totoro.

I love, love, LOVE this show! Also, how are Totoro and Appa related, besides being giant flying animals?

Come on, just compare these two pictures
Besides being giant, lazy, gray furry creatures, they both sound almost exactly alike.
Flying Bison my ass.

According to an interview with the artists involved in creating Avatar, Appa's design was based on the Catbus in My Neighbor Totoro, due to the peculiar task of creating a mammal with six legs.
"The best anime balances great action sequences with humor and emotion, something we try to do on Avatar. We love all the films of Hayao Miyazaki, especially Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Both movies deal with spirituality and the environment in an entertaining way. Also, there's a lot of great animation." -Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino

I like this show a great deal, which is obnoxious because if I didn't, I wouldn't miss cable so much.
