So I'm in a weekly football pool at work. The thing is, I could give a fuck less about football outside of the Patriots, so I fucking suck at picking teams.

Here are the games:

SUN, 9/16
Buffalo at Pittsburgh
Houston at Carolina
Atlanta at Jacksonville
New Orleans at Tampa Bay
Green Bay at NY Giants
San Fran at St. Louis
Cincinnati at Cleveland
Indianapolis at Tennessee
Minnesota at Detroit
Dallas at Miami
Seattle at Arizona
NY Jets at Baltimore
Oakland at Denver
Kansas City and Chicago
San Diego at New England

MON, 9/17
Washington at Philly

Tie Breaker - Total Points for Monday Night game:

Well, the Packers were in the crowd on RAW tonight, so there's one less day of practice for them. But then, the Giants looked silly against Dallas, so...

I say coinflip on all of them, as I know little to nothing about football post-1992.

I would go with Seahawks and the Jaguars.

Seahawks should be able to stomp Arizona, and the Jags are finally coming together, and I think they should put up a great fight against the Vick-less Falcons.

I haven't ranked my confidence pool for next week yet for my office, but here's my picks:

Pittsburgh
Carolina
Jacksonville
New Orleans
Giants
SF
Cincinnati
Indy
Minnesota
Dallas
Seattle
Baltimore
Denver
Chicago
New England

Washington

SF, Giants, NE, and Baltimore are low confidence
Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, NO, Cincy, Indy, Dallas, and Chicago are all sure things.

I agree with all of Cattivo's sure things.

What I'd pick different is -

Greenbay over Giants (Giants starting qb, rb and de are injured)
St. Louis over San Fran
Philly over Washington
Oakland over Denver (nobody else will pick this, and your probably shouldn't either, i just think this will be an upset)
And since you are in Mass take the Chargers over the Patriots. Everyone else there will pick the Pats and the game is too close to call. So roll the dice and take the team nobody else will pick.

I didn't know about the Giants' injuries, I'm going to have to switch my pick there.

Yeah, I'm an Oakland fan, so dont listen to what I say. But def pick the Chargers over the Pats. A) the chargers are way better than the pats B) I hate the pats C) I hate the chargers too, eff san diego.

Since Random Farthead is no longer here and since I went 15 of 16 this past week I think I could give you some picks. Stupid Kansas City...but anyways...

Pittsburgh over Buffalo
Pittsburgh should be a no brainer...yea Buffalo is upset over losing one of there star players, but thats not gonna make them play better then Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.

Carolina over Houston
...Andre Johnson had a good first game but in a game of reicievers (Ahman Green Sucks RB for Houston) You got Steve Smith, Jarret, and Delhome passing it. Houstons on the right track getting a win over KC, but KC sucked and I think they might be the new Detroit Lions this year.

New Orleans over Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay is Garbage. Coming off an EMBARASSING loss to the Colts, the Saints are gonna make Tampa Bay their bitches. Reggie Bush should have a good game as well as Drew Brees. Good Luck Tampa.

Jacksonville over Atlanta,
Joey Harrington sucks to high heaven Alge Crumpler isn't going to have a big game, neither is Warwick Dunn, I say Maurice Jones-Drew goes off this game and sends Atlanta to an 0-2 record.

Green Bay over NY Giants
Favre vs. Lorenzen??? He might be 37 but I'm pretty sure Favre can beat a team that gave up 45 points. Plaxico doesn't have a rapport with Lorenzen and Eli wont be in for a month. Greenbay will win this game. It might be close because Donald Driver can only do so much.

St. Louis over San Fran
...after getting embarassed at home against the "weak" Panthers, and a horrible start to Steven Jacksons year, they will be back for vengance. Especially over a team who's RB had 75% of the offense and it wasn't even that much. Alex Smith will probably get decapitated in this game.

Cincinnati over Cleveland
...thats it theres no rhyme or reason. Unless they put in Brady Cleveland has 0% chance at winning this game.

Indy over Tennessee
...This is my upset of the week but statiscally I would bet on Indy. You know they aren't gonna go undefeated so betting on them all 16 weeks is eventually not gonna work. I'm personally choosing Tennessee but in your case I would play it safe and take Indy.

DETROIT!!!! over Minnesota
They are playing a team who has 2 "star" rookies. 1 good play from Adrian Peterson and he is now the "rookie of the year". Whatever Jackson and Peterson are coming to a Detroit stadium with a high powered offense. Minnesota scored 2 defensive touchdowns against a horrible Atlanta Offense, making them the "Best" defense in Fantasy Football. Detroit will knock them down a peg with Tatum Bell and a 4 Reciever set that could confuse any team. Detroit wins!

Dallas over Miami
Miami sucks plain and simple they have no QB and there defense couldn't hold it together against one of the worst offenses in Washington. Now they are playing against Romo and T.O. Porter and Taylor can't do everything for Miami. Go with Dallas.

Seattle over Arizona
Seattle at Arizona...Edge had a decent game thats about it. Lienhart had 2 int's and about 100 yards. Boldin and Fitzgerald were no where to be seen. Look for Arizona to work out a gameplan which will jumpstart there "supposed" stellar seasons. This is my second upset. I choose Arizona, Hasslebeck and Alexander struggled until the end of the 2nd quater and then until the 4th. This team is bad. But maybe they will fix it. I'd pick another safe one with Seattle. but don't get upset if Arizona destroys them.

Ny Jets over Baltimore.
McNair has a hurt groin and he gave up 4 or 5 turnovers yesterday. he is lucky the game was that close. I go with the Jets.just because Thomas Jones comes from playing for one of the best Defensive teams in the league. He has practice against a tough defense, so the ravens shouldn't be that hard. That and who do the ravens even really have? J...E...T...S....JETS JETS JETS.

Denver over Oakland
Oakland scored 3 touchdows last week against a very young and inexperienced Detroit defense. If McGown thinks he's throwing it to Dre'Bly's side he's gonna have 3 INT's on his tally for the day. After squeaking one out against Buffalo I think these guys are gonna get there act together and put up a good showing against this horrible Oakland team.

Chicago over Kansas City
...let's see you got LJ, Tony Gonzalez, Huard for KC. Grossman, Clark, Berrian, Benson. Both teams scored 3 points on Sunday and both teams are 0-1. Both teams looked pathetic, BUT...Chicago played SD and KC played HOUSTON!!! I think if Rex can keep his head on straight this game goes to the Bears. They played a much better team last week, and KC's defense will seem like a cake walk.

New England over San Diego
...unless they can keep the ball out of Brady's hands I can't see the Chargers pulling this one off. LT would have to score atleast 3 touchdowns, and Rivers needs to keep the ball out of the Defenses hands. Moss is on fire, and I expect to see more of it. The Chargers DEF is good though, this game might be closer than some might think.

Philly over Washington
Washington Sucks, Portis and Betts aren't doing what they need to be doing, and the offense blows. McNabb will make up for his horrible game against GreenBay with a win against one of the worst teams in the league.

Total points...34-10 Philly.

Those are my picks.

I went 12-4 I made some last minute changes to my picks, mainly Indy, and Washington. I had Cincys D in my fantasy league and got destroyed...WTF! We should keep this updated and do something like this everyweek. IMO.

I was against Chad Johnson in my fantasy league. Even with Randy Moss, it was hard for me to make up for that performance.

Here's my picks for this week, with confidence ranking (the higher the number, the higher the confidence).

6 Jets
15 Ravens
13 SD
16 NE
11 Indy
1 StL
14 Pitts
8 KC
2 Philly
4 Oakland
7 Jags
5 Cincy
9 'Skins
10 Carolina
12 Bears

3 NO

I might re-evaluate the Jets and the Falcons picks later in the week because of the QB situation there.

Also, I can easily see some of my picks being wrong by Indy losing to Houston, Philly losing to Detroit, the Giants coming back with a force against the Skins, and the Titans beating the down-on-their-luck Saints.

I'll go by confidence as well...with 1 being the least and 16 being the most.

16. Indianapolis over Houston...No Johnson...BIG problem. It is definitly apparent that Andre Johnson is pretty much the whole Houston team. With Schuab not having anyone to throw to this week its going to be hard to upset the Defending champs.

15. New England over Buffalo...Let's face it Buffalo couldn't beat Denver or Pittsburgh. Why/How can they beat the Patriots. I guess this should be a 10 in the confidence meter but who knows maybe it'll be close. They do got Lee Evans...JOKE.

14. Pittsburgh over San Fran...Pittsburgh has a good defense granted they haven't really played anyone...Buffalo and Cleveland, but look at what Cleveland did to Cincy? BUT Frye was playing that game...Pittsburgh has much better weapons and therefore a better team.

13. N.Y. Jets over Miami...Trent Green can't throw and his WR's can't catch. Bet they are kicking themselves in the ass for drafting Ted Ginn over Brady Quinn. Jason Taylor and Porter will keep it interesting for awhile but the Miami defense will crumble.

12. Carolina over Atlanta...Joey Harrington is Sitting? Why it's not his fault he sucks...wait...yes it is...Leftwich will come in and spice things up, but Dunn and Crumpler, will only be able to do so much, plus Steve Smith is a beast.

11. San Diego over Green Bay...FAVRE will be playing with records on the line, but that doesn't stop the fact that L.T. and Rivers will be proving that Green Bays defense isn't as good as people think. Thye beat a Philly team that has scored 1 touchdown this year and a Giants team that is nursing their QB.

10. Baltimore over Arizona...Arizona squeaked one out against Seattle, who is at best mediocre. Put them against a solid defense, and some great playmakers and your looking at an easy win for Baltimore at home.

9. Kansas City over Minnesota...Kansas City like I said is the Detroit Lions of the 07/08 season so far, but look for them to turn everything around. Anthony Gon. will have a good week with the lack of a pass defense. Larry Johnson will finally have a subpar game and Minnesota will take its rightful place at the bottom of the NFC north.

8. Cincinnati over Seattle...Carson 6 TD's 400 yards no win, against the BROWNS!!! Look for Chad T.J. and Rudi to come out on all cylinders this week. Against a mediocre Seattle team they should have no problem, plus they signed a guy for their defensive needs.

7. Dallas over Chicago...last time these two met Dallas beat the Bears 21-7. You've got the best offense in the league vs. a very stout defense...then you got the bears...HORRIBLE offense against a decent defense. Dallas wins, just keep it away from Hester.

6. N.Y. Giants over Washington...Washington has played two very close games against to very bad teams. Miami and Philly...who's combined record is 0-4 they are now playing another team without any wins. Except this team has played a great team and a resurging team. Giants will contain Campbell.

Now we start getting into the "Could go either way"'s
5. Detroit over Philly...I don't want to say Detroit will destroy the Eagles, but they are my team, and if they win it's going to give them some instant credibility going 3-0. But Detroit always seems to blow games at the very end and this might be one of those games they don't come back from.

4. Oakland over Cleveland...this is the week we find out if Derek Anderson is the real deal or not. He threw for 5 TD's and an INT against the Bengals, but they are against the "Supposedly" best Pass Defense in the NFL. This is a toss up, but Lamont Jordan and Curry should have a good game and it's rumored Culpepper should be starting.

3. St. Louis over Tampa...STL has seen the game footage of Joey Galloway...take him out of the game and who do you have...*crickets*...ok...Steven Jackson Issac Bruce Tory Holt and Bulger WILL step up this week. If they start 0-3 i'd be shocked.

2. Tennessee over New Orleans...Tennessee almost put the screws to Indy and New Orleans is sucking something fierce this year. They can't seem to find a rythm, JAK and IND are both threats that Tenn has plaed tough against. Look for Tennessee in the win column for this one.

And now the most unsure game of the week...
1. Devner over Jacksonville...Denver has won both thier games at the last seconds by a field goal or less. One against Buffalo and the other against the AWESOME powers of the Raiders. Jacksonville is a strong defensive team but Denver has Travis Henry and a solid QB in Cutler. Plus Denver is at home so the advantage goes to them.

Tiebreaker...24-17 Tennessee.
Thats it for this week...Those are my garunteed picks this week unless news comes out of anything happening, like Tom Brady hosting an illegal cock-fighting ring. And I'm not talking about weiners, sadly I know that needs to be clarified.

Week 4:

14 Pittsburgh over Arizona
the Steelers are on a roll, and even though Roethlisberger's numbers aren't stellar, he won't need much to get past Arizona.

13 Dallas over St. Louis
The Cowboys are running hot, and are feeling good. And why shouldn't they? They have a capable young QB, unlike the Bears...... Evil Meanwhile, StL has nothing going for them right now.

12 Indy over Denver
Safe pick, Denver's decent, but probably not enough to get past Indy at home.

11 New England over Cincy
Both teams are offensive juggernauts, but NE at least has a capable defense, so that should be a big deciding factor.

10. SD over KC.
Chargers are having some production problems, but they probably have all the rust worked out, and should be able to take this average team at home.

9 Chicago over Lions. Ok, we may be suffering from a lot of defensive injuries, but most of the hurt players from last week's game should be fine by game time, and Lovie will probably finally bench Rex for a QB that doesn't cough up the ball all the time, tiring the Defense and giving them too much to overcome. Besides, the Lions are a paper tiger, right?

8 Baltimore over Cleveland. Cleveland has proved themselves capable, but Baltimore has a top receiver returning from injury, and if McNair stays hurt, Boller is certainly capable. Meanwhile the Raven's D should hold up. Probably....

7 Carolina over TB
Both teams are resurging this year, and while Delhomme might be injured, they have two decent RBs to back up the running game and have a decent shot at takeing this at home.

6 Vikings over GB
I could be totally wrong on this, but I'm hoping GB is just getting lucky, and will be unable to beat another team I hate at home

5 Atlanta over Houston
Atlanta may suck, but Houston is suffering too many injuries.

4 Miami over Oakland
Both teams suck, so let's go with homefield advantage

3 NYJ over Bills
Both teams are having a hard time, but the Jets have more potential in my mind. This is in spite of the promise Jauron gave the Bills last year....so almost a toss up.

2 Seattle over SF
Both teams are decent, but I think Seattle is on the rise again, even if Alexander has some wrist problems

1 Philly over NYG
I have no idea how to predict how either of these teams will play. The Giants D sucked the first two weeks, but had some nice plays against the 'Skins. Philly had no Offensive production the first two weeks, then exploded last week. I'll just go with Philly because they have Westbrook.

I agree with almost everything. But...

1) Brian Griese is NOT the answer. I'll point out his years in Denver. Unless Chicago signs or trades for someone soon, they're fucked. Meanwhile, Detroit's putting up mondo points and has a vastly better offense. I think Detroit pulls this one out, with or without Calvin Johnson.

2) Carolina is TERRIBLE. Tampa isn't a great team, but they are playing out of their minds right now. Delhomme is hurt and they may have to rely on David Carr. Yikes.

3) The Vikes have no chance with [fill in the blank] as quarterback.

Long term, No, Griese isn't the answer. But right now, we just need a competent QB who won't turn the ball over and lets the Defense do their thing. If that happens, we can easily get to the Super Bowl again in this easy conference.

Here's to hoping we draft a QB with a brain next year.

If da Bears finish with one of the worst records in football I will not be surprised. I hate the Bears with a passion but thats probably because I'm a Lions Fan. What the bears would be better doing, is trading for a proven QB in the NFL rather then take another chance with an Andre Ware, or Ryan Leaf, and NOT an old fart like Trent Green, They could use a QB like Vick. I'm happy with Kitna myself, but when he retires I have no idea whats going to happen. I thought I did really bad this sunday but I guess 11-5 ain't bad.

My changes would be Detroit for obvious reasons, NYG, San Fran, Houston, Tampa. I won't go into a description this week because I'm lazy.
