In 2008. Oh yes. With the announcement of Wii Fit, NamcoBandai will surely bring the thing around here.

Edit: Checked on it again. This will indeed come to America. Same time as the JP version too.

My god, the Japanese people in that picture must be billionares!

Nobody in Japan has a living room that large, unless in a mansion.

Yeah, that's kinda like my uncle's house, instead of a Japanese apartment.

On second thought, I find it disappointing that no one cares about the Power Pad coming back.

As long as you can still cheat by using your hands, then it's all good.

The power pad was interesting but yay, using your hands was the only way to go. That or the controller. Now that the power pad is coming out, I wonder if the power glove is going to make a comeback?

As long as they dont bring ROB back, the power pad should be cool. Unless they make an actual useful ROB, that would be cool too.

I just hate how the Wii is getting to be too much of an accessory whore. I want one so bad, but it seems as though I gotta spend more money on the system + game + accessories + extra controllers. It will probably end up being more than a PS3.

There's no need to bring the Power Glove back... you have the Wii Remote.

Yeah, but you don't need every accessory for every game. Also, what the hell was wrong with ROB?

ROB had two main problems:

1. He worked with somewhere around 2 games
2. He was loud as fuck

It was an interested concept though.

I know. But now they make small, powerful, and quiet servomotors.

Okay, this is something i have to bitch about. The new Zapper for the wii. You have to use both hands to fire it. WTF, why not stick with the old design, that way a gamer could hold one zapper in each hand and have duel-wield gameplay.

Because with most of these games you'll need to aim and use the joystick?

That's too bad, duel-zappers would have been awesome. Cool

I'd say the Wii Zapper has more in common with the Super Scope than the original NES Zapper.

Wait, why exactly do you need the joystick? You aim by waving the remote around. The only game's announced thus far for the zapper are:

1. Umbrella Chronicles
2. Zelda Crossbow Training

One is a rail shooter, the other is a shooting gallery, neither should require more than a single hand to play, or a single button interface. The Wii Zapper seems better suited to an FPS...

You forgot Sega's Ghost Squad too. Arcade conversion.

Actually, when I first saw the Wii Zapper I thought of the Sega Menacer.

Seriously? Sweet.

I'm hoping for Midway and Namco to give us arcade shooter collections for the Wii. I would kill to play arcade perfect versions of Time Crisis, CarnEvil, and Revolution X in my own home.

Sega should do one too. I know there's already an HOTD collection for XBox, but no reason they couldn't do it again. That, or they could do Virtua Cop.

Isn't it just a plastic shell? That means that Call of Duty 3, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel, and RE4 Wii Edition will all work with this thing.

I remember reading somewhere that ROB was a ploy to get the console into stores, something about how because of the video game crash no store wanted to carry a console, so they packaged ROB with the NES and Gyromite to trick the store into thinking it was just some sort of Robot toy. Confused

Yeah. That's also why it was called the Nintendo Entertainment System instead of the Nintendo Video Game System.

Cant split hairs there, it is entertaining, hell even today in my opinion, NES blows half the new crap around out of the water.

Since it's related to the article, here is Screwattack's top 10 best and worst Gaming Peripherals. I still think the Zapper should be #1 but after seeing their number one, i graciously withdraw my complaint. This video also features ROB, since he has been a hot topic, see for yourself why he sucks . . .

Hey, the Robotic Operating Badass fucking rules, man. The original NES peripheral might have sucked, but the ROB character is damn cool.
