The 3 Stooges movie has been in the works for at least 5 years now, despite enormous backlash every time the idea is brought up. I don't see why the Farelly Brothers insist on trying to do this movie. It's quite apparent that they're creatively bankrupt at this point, and reimagining (i.e. bastardizing) one of the greatest comedy teams of all-time isn't going to do anything to dispel that perception. The Three Stooges are NOT characters, they are Moses "Moe" Horwitz, Samuel "Shemp" Horwitz, Jerome "Curly" Horwitz, Louis "Larry" Feinberg. Yes, they un-Jewed their names for Vaudeville and Hollywood, but their stage names and their character names were interchangeable all but a handful of Stooges shorts. I've said it once and I'll say it again: recasting the Stooges is like bringing back Charlie McCarthy and pairing him with a new ventroquilist; no one's going to stop you from doing it, but that doesn't mean it's not fucking retarded.
Oh, and here's a quote from an article about Russell Crowe potentially being Moe: "In the film, Moe meets Larry and Curly in an orphanage, but they have to adapt to the outside world. The one thing that they do adapt to is 'passing gas as a means to blow up balloons."

What the FUCK is that!? The Stooges were about slapstick, not fart jokes. The article mentions Mel Gibson and Benicio Del Toro as potential choices for Moe as well. I'd like either of them way better than Crowe. I'd also pay big money to see Stallone as Moe. And if they insist on pulling this bullshit, they need to get Billy West to play Larry. His Stimpy voice sounds pretty much exactly like Larry.
