And when i say number 1 favorite band or artist, i mean someone who you are so into that you know all their songs, albums, a concert shirt is worth it's weight in gold and you can name each original band member and what instrument they played.

For me it's Blue Oyster Cult, famous for "Godzilla" "Burnin' for you" and of course "Don't Fear the Reaper"

The "name each original member and their instrument" cancels out every single thing I've ever listened to.

Ha, same here. Except Iron Maiden who I don't like as much as other bands.

Smashing Pumpkins, even though I haven't listened to all of Zeitgeist yet....if you can even call that a Pumpkins album at this point. VAST, Sister Machine Gun, and Local H are pretty close. As you can tell, I don't listen to much contemporary music anymore. Still living in the 90s musically, and am tired of most rock.

I used to love Offspring like Val, but their newer albums kept sounding too similar and like pop songs instead of actual punk music.

I fucking love "All The Kids Are Right".

But I take exception to their cover of The Godfather's "Birth, School, Work, Death" where they change the line "And I've felt torture, I've felt pain, just like that film with Michael Caine" to "Yeah, I've been tortured all alone, just watching crap with Sly Stallone".

Sly Stallone has made many fabulous films. And the original line is just inherently better anyway.

While looking for a CD to listen to while I did my errands, I looked at my collection and said to myself, "Damn, I wish I had the new Akira Yamaoka CD". Then I realized I'm probably the only person in the midwest who would make such a statement.

But seriously, Akira Yamaoka rocks. I can't wait for the "Origins" soundtrack.

I'd say Testament. Metallica is an extremely close second, though.

Pantera, hands down. It used to be Meatloaf, but then I got more and more into metal, so Mr. Loaf kinda had to take a backseat. I don't have any concert tees of them, because Dime was dead by the time I started listening to Pantera (and metal of any sort). But man, Rex, Dime, Phil, and Vinnie made us Texans proud, they did.

Wait for it guys....The Mighty Van Halen. Back in the summer before grade 9, my dad got into a BMX accident, breaking his ribs, puncturing his lung, causing internal bleeding, and exploding his spleen. I had to become a man during that summer, and the thing that got me through that summer was rediscovering VH. I had heard them first back in 96 (age 7) because of my dad, and that summer was when they reunited with Hagar. So my dad eventually pulled through and we went to see them in October. It was my first ever concert, and the fact that my dad was there was really special.

My second favorite band is Guns N Roses. You know how some parents listen to Mozart albums while pregnant. Appetite For Destruction was my Mozart. I've been listening to them since before I was born. I don't have a tee though, cuz since the big breakup when I was 5, the only time they came to Vancouver was in 02, and Axl didn't even show. Not like anything beats the first (Axl/Slash/Izzy/Duff/Steven) or second (Axl/Slash/Gilby/Duff/Matt/Dizzy) lineups anyway

My all-time favorite is Iron Maiden, but they've been slipping lately. A Matter Of life & Death was basically the same song over and over again (2 minute soft intro, 7 minutes of an actual song, 30 second intro reprise), and as far as I'm concerned that was played out with Dance Of Death. Then they had the arrogance (as Syd put in one of his article) to play the entire thing live. " OMG THERE ISN'T ONE BAD TRACK ON IT!" Of course you think that! You just put the damn thing out! All artists claim their new album is their favorite album, its called marketing.

Well at least the "Somewhere Back In Time" tour is coming around the corner. Here's hoping they put some effort into their setlist and don't just play the same songs they've been playing for years.

On a more positive note, at least Iron Maiden don't downtune live, which is what so many old bands do nowadays. Yes I understand your singer can't sing as high as he used to, but tuning the guitars down a key lower than they are on the albums makes the rest of the song sound like crap!

There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

I haven't listened to either in awhile. But, my two all-time favorites who I have full discographies for (which includes imports) and know all the songs are Nirvana and Radiohead.

I hit that angsty hatefull teenage mode right when Manson was becoming popular with Antichirst Svperstar and used to be really into that shit, nowdays I dont really have a super all time favorite artist, but some of his older albums are still some of my favorites.
Some of my favorite music curently is
Nile Cannibal Corpse Old school Napalm Death, Children of Bodom are great, uhh I really like Bolt Thrower....Old school Cradle Of Filth had some great songs, same with Dimmu Borgir, I love the way those bands sound but cant take them seriously when I see videos (Manson has that problem too lol) Plus alot of angry rap when I'm driving

I have to say tops down though Nirvana has past the test of time, listening to Nirvana now is just as satisfying as when I first heard it as a kid.

I don't think it surprises anyone that NIN is my favorite band. Very Happy

That being said, Andrew W.K., Meat Loaf, and Pearl Jam are all very high up on the list.

Man, I practically worshipped Meat Loaf back in the day. Glad to see another fan on here.

Metallica was the band that pretty much got me into metal, but I don't really listen to them much anymore.

Nowadays Priest, Maiden and Megadeth get the most plays in Itunes.

I've also recently gotten into Nightwish and Demons and Wizards......kickass.

Yeah, I'm a big Manson fan. I guess I mentioned the other guys instead because I've never let a chance to see them slip past me. When Manson hit town with Slayer, I COULD have gone, but opted not to. I'm not sure why. When he comes around on his own, I'll be there, front and center.

Foo Fighters, hands down anymore.

It used to be Pearl Jam, but ever since Eddie Vedder started ranting about every cause he sees on CNN, Pearl Jam has tended to suck some. i still love Ten, Versus, Vitalogy, and even most of Yield. You couldn't pay me to get No Code.

Anyway, yeah, the Foo Fighters.. they fucking rock. Coincidentally, they just released a new album that kicks all sorts of ass if you're an FF fan. From the sound of it, I'm not sure those that are only partially familiar with their stuff would like it, but it's still worth a shot. I'm completely biased, but it's a great album (again.)

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I never much liked All the Kids are Right, Bound for the floor is much better and for a while Hands on the Bible was my favorite song because it kicks ass.

Also, the greatest band ever is the Beatles, Zeppelin and Nirvana are close though and if the Hip hadn't sucked since about '95 they'd probably be right up there too.
