...theatrical releases of Episodes IV,V, and VI of Star Wars in a theater in one sitting (with short intermissions between movies), would you see it?

I would. Exclamation

Nope. Maybe it's age making me bitter, but I've been beaten over the head with SW-related stuff my entire life and I'm bored now.

I'd rather watch a more obscure trilogy in a marathon sitting, like those Sonny Chiba "Street Fighter" movies (even though there's four of them). Like say, Psycho II, III, and IV: The Beginning. Or even "Beverly Hills Cop".

Last I heard, Lucas was working on rereleasing all six movies in 3D at select theaters, probably in time for the 35th-40th annerversary.

Lucas should work on a new fucking movie. Like it's really gonna be so fucking spectacular to see the SAME SHIT but in 3d.

The remake of Return of the Jedi literally made tears of embarrassment well up in my eyes.

Considering how badly he butchered the original series by re-editing it or whatever 8 million times, and how lackluster the prequels were for the most part, do you even want him to work on/release any new movies?

I'm hoping the new Indiana Jones movie is good.

There's really no reason for him to get a new series if he can cash in so heavily on slight retools every once in awhile. Years of people dressed up like Bib Fortuna going, "hey Lucas, here is a list of inaccuracies about YOUR films when placed against novels written in the expanded universe, years after your films were released. You can fix these movies. Use the Force!" or whatever has probably made him soured on the entire thing.

I actually had something like this in my post originally but I edited it out because I didn't want to sound like a cantankerous, cynical asshole who's overly critical of Star Wars minutiae. I figure if we divided it up between a couple posts we could diffuse that throughout the group and as thus all be better for it.

I dunno. If I was in a crowded elevator and someone was gonna fart, I'd rather have one big one than 15 small ones.

Allow me to join the bandwagon of critiquing the prequels and the changes Lucas made to the original trilogy.

It's interesting that as I've aged I have liked Star Wars less and less, and Star Trek more and more (except the newer stuff, that sucks).

Lucas committed many crimes in his re-edits, the two biggest being Hayden Christensen in ROTJ and Greedo shooting first.

Yeah, we all have our gripes about this, but it is HIS property. I mean, he can do whatever he wants to it. Granted he will pretty much piss off all of his fans in the mean time, but again, it is HIS property. So, I agree he has fucked up the property very badly, but he has the right to do so.

Although, if he did respect his audience more, he would ask them first what should be changed if anything. Do informal surveys or whatever. That would make some sense to me.

He's got the ultimate cash cow, do you think he gives a shit about what people think? He knows ANYTHING he releases with the name "Star Wars" attached to it will earn him another Billion dollars.

Personally, I think he has a great vision and a great imagination, but unfortunately his script writing skills suck. I think if you completely rewrote the scripts to the Star Wars films, especially 1-2-3 & 6, but kept the same plots, they would have been 100x better.

Example:
"Oh Anakin, Hold me like you did at the lake on Naboo"
becomes
"It the most beautiful rainbow I've ever seen... Do me on it!"

Well, you get I mean. Wink

Like Cattivo, I've begun to like Star Wars less and less as I've gotten older. I'm not sure if it's due to aging (and becoming a cynical asshole Wink), my dislike of the prequels, or a combination of the two. Probably a combination of the two though.

I would request replacing the Hayden Christensen appearance with the Jabba/Han Solo conversation which contradicted so many levels of logic and canon, namely because he's not that big and he's walking around. He was huge in Episode I and Episode VI and all the way in between, end of story.

One of my friends is particularly annoyed at the fact that in the edit they changed the line in Empire where Vader is leaving cloud city having failed to recruit Luke from "Bring my shuttle" to something a bit more extensive. He says the original line is more appropriate for a very angry man who has just had his plan fall through, knowing that he is still unable to kill the emperor alone and that now he will have to kill his own son.

Excuse the shitty sentence structure.

I just watch Return of The Jedi, and had a sick thought at the end of the movie, when all the Ewoks were celebrating the destruction of the 2nd Death Star. Wouldn't massive chunks of that thing get pulled in by the Gravity of the Forest Moon? So, massive, firey metoers would come slaming down upon the Ewok and destory their home in a cataclismic event? Kinda like the end of the dinosaurs theory?
