ANNOYED AT Apple fanboy smugness, an anonymous independent insecurity expert has developed a worm for the Apple OSX.
The bloke, who goes by the handle of "Information Security Sellout" has developed a worm that targets an unknown vulnerability affecting OSX.
In his bog, Information Security Sellout claimed that his proof-of-concept worm could gain root access. His worm was based on a variation of mDNSResponder vulnerabilities that Apple had previously patched.
He had also tested it on a network of approximately 1,500 OS X systems.
His version, called "Rape", only snuffles in a LAN, but he says it would not take much extra work for the worm to attack down the Internet tubes.
When his research is finished he says he will give it to Apple to have a look at. However looking at the comments in his bog it appears his actions have caused a crisis of faith among Apple fanboys. There are the usual death threats but what is sad is that many of them are completely convinced that a worm in an Apple is impossible.
One fanboy issued his own fatwa for daring to contradict the myth that Apple is impervious to worms. As he eloquently put told the hacker: "I dare you to demonstrate this at Defcon you retarded Microsoftie. We will drag you out, put a bullet in you, and bury your body so deep it will take a nuclear blast to find your body."

In before Tish comes in to defend Apple.
I was never overly-impressed with Macs. I've used one before, and it just seems like a dumbed-down version of Windows, nothing more.

apart from break-neck speeds when editing video/photo/music, The mac is essentially a computer for someone too fucking dumb to use an actual computer. they simplify the interface, deny access to key elements of the OS, are extremely un-customizable, and the gaming aspects of any mac system are highly sub-par, in terms of hardware and actual software availability.
Plus they try to appeal to kids so hard that they don't notice that their commercials make them look like douchebags and serious computer users aren't stupid enough to ever even consider buying a mac.

To be fair, the Mac OS was first and Bill Gates totally ripped it off.
Still, I think it's funny that Mac users hate Microsoft so much though. How quickly they forget that when Apple sustained crippling financial losses in the mid-90s, it was Microsoft who stepped in and bailed them out.

I wouldn't calling it ripping it off if you make significant changes to it to increase it's quality. Windows has always been superior to any Mac OS in speed, customization, accessibility, and power.

Accually, that's not true.
The honor for producing the first working GUI goes to Doug Englebart – at the time an employee of Stanford Research Institute. Englebart and colleagues created a program called the oNLine System in 1965-‘68.
Years later, still in a time when nobody knew what the future of computers was to be, Xerox put together a team of researchers who did nothing more than put ideas together to see what they produced. The team, located at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, was convinced that Englebart’s model would work on computers available for individual work stations, and they produced two working models, the Alto and the Star. The Star was made available to the public, mouse and all, in 1981. But it was very expensive, and they sold only 25 thousand of them. But this was the first GUI-based OS available to the public.
Steve Jobs, one of the founders of Apple, saw some of the potential in a GUI during tours of the Xerox facility. Some say that is where Jobs got his ideas for the GUI found on the Mac. Jobs did see some programming that contained GUI concepts, but the development team for the Lisa (and Bill Gates, by the way) saw the release of the Star. Both the development team and Bill Gates left with new visions for the future of the PC. The Lisa was retrofitted with a GUI OS before it was released and Microsoft began working on Windows. Like the Star, Lisa was a very expensive computer and few sold.
It wasn't 1984's release of the MAC, was there finally an afforable home computer with a GUI.
Microsft's Windows 1.0 was first presented to the public on November 10, 1983.
The original Macintosh with System 1.0 (MAC OS's original name.) was released on January 24, 1984.
In all reality, Gate's didn't ripoff Jobs, and Jobs didn't rip off Gates.
Both Mac and Microsoft ripped off Xerox, who ripped off SRI.
End of debate.

At first I thought the title was referring to actual, intestinal-type worms.

I think that the "conflict" was started (mostly from those damned commercials) by Mac users inability to realize that they're arguing over computers and operating systems

There's already been a worm affecting a security breach on Mac OSX, that could get in through iChat AV... which for the record TEBOR is what I blame for "the incident"...
I never claimed to be anti-PC or anything like that. Yes, I have a preference for Macs, because for the purposes I have, it's the better choice. If I was a serious gamer, like a lot of you, I'd definitely get a PC, probably something like this:
But, because all I do is browse the net, chat, listen to iTunes, sync my iPod, edit pictures, and a few other things, I don't feel the need to spend a craptacular $2000 + on a system. My iMac is fast, doesn't get bogged down by malware and shitty processes like aim... Val's PC on the other hand I can download a song, import it to iTunes and play it before his music player even launches... BUT to be fair to PC, MSPaint is awesome, and I'd also love to be able to install my Corel office suite on my mac... so both systems have their pros and cons.

My 6th grade computer teacher would NOT stop telling us this. The whole lab was full of Macs and we weren't allowed to talk about PCs at all. Every friggin' day he would remind us that Bill Gates ripped off the Mac and that there were videos out there to prove it. He never seemed to realize that no one cared. All we wanted to do was play Lemmings and Sim Tower.

Thats why ACTUAL PC gamers build there computers for a ton less then buy a ballsacking Alienware. Also, aren't Macs pretty expensive?

Not to be an ass, but whenever I hear stuff like this, I just think wow, that person doesn't know how to use a computer. I do like Macminis though.

I'm building my own PC. I find it fun. I'm a giant nerd.
But seriously, you can make a PC run faster than a Mac. You just have to know how to turn of background tasks, and be smart enough to not have your system get a virus or something.
