When I was a kid, I freaked out when I saw Nekketsu Street Basket. Those graphics, that addictive gameplay... It was like a dream. Later on I discovered the Ike! Ike! Hockey Bu and Kunio Kun no Nekketsu Soccer, which were also good, but not as much as the basketball. Even later, I played some kind of nekketsu 4-players race game, where you had to swim, climb up ladders an so on, but I don't remember the name. Anyway, how many other Nekketsu games on NES have I missed?
On the side note, I remember borrowing one nice looking beat-em-up, with characters looking similarly to those from nekketsu games although they probably weren't. Any ideas about the name of the game?

I doubt it's this obvious, but - River City Ransom?
Syd - you still have to write an article about that game.

I think that River City Ransom was Nekketsu Kouha no Kunio Kun.

NES games that use the Nekketsu-style graphics:
Nekketsu Koukou Dodge Ball Bu (Super Dodge Ball)
Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (River City Ransom)
Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball-bu Soccer-hen (Nintendo World Cup)
Downtown Nekketsu Koushinkyoku: Soreyuke Daiundoukai
Downtown Special: Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou!
Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey-bu: Subette Koronde Dairantou Bikkuri Nekketsu Shin Kiroku! Harukanaru Kin Medal (Crash 'n the Boys)
Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu
Kunio-Kun no Nekketsu Soccer League
Nekketsu Street Basket: Ganbare Dunk Heroes
Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu is a fighting game.
Downtown Nekketsu Koushinkyoku - Soreyuke Daiundoukai is a mini game thing, similar to Crash 'n the Boys.
Downtown Special: Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou! is a like a feudal version of RCR.
All these games had 4 player support except for River City Ransom and the American version of Nekketsu Koukou Dodge Ball Bu.

Thats a nice list to complete. Thanks!
About that beat-em-up: it was in the Double Dragon style - fighting a lot of enemies while moving to the right. You had a choice of few playable characters, nice graphics, and irritating holes in the ground .
What a day for hunting old NES game isn't it?

And it was a North American release, or no?

Still not sure on that, but I did miss one NES Nekketsu game, Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun, which was released as Renegade in the US.
This game did not have four player support either.

Nah, looks funny but that game had MUCH better graphics. And I'm pretty sure at least one of the characters had SonGoku-styled hair. Memory is a bitch...

It is indeed.
Now I understand where I found similarity to the Nekketsu games - because of the way your eyeballs pop out when you get smashed.
I should have remembered Capcom logo though, the search would be much shorter.
