This is the only thing good that has never come out of the Source engine, because it has nothing to do with being able to shoot at people in a bad multiplayer, but instead is about solving cool puzzles.

It's been in the works for a while, hopefully it keeps me busy for longer than HL2 did.
The game is going to come packaged with Team Fortress 2, aka The Incredibles FPS with added bloom.

Well, I finally gave in to satan and purchased the Orange Box. TF2 is fucking awesome, and Portal comes out on the 10th...I don't give two shits about HL2 Episode 2, but Portal should keep me busy for a while. Hell, the price tag was worth TF2 and Portal alone ($45.99 I think, something in that area).

This kinda reminds me of those portals in Prey.
Only this game takes it to the next level.

HOLY FUCK!
this game is absolutely fantastic. a little short, but the ending is fucking amazing, and the credits song is fucking hilarious.
to murdar:
*SPOILER ALERT - only for me and murdar and anybody else who finished the game*
since you beat it, what did you think about the second half of the game? (after GLaDOS tries to kill you the first time and you start finding out more about the facility and get to see the seedy underbelly of the factory)
Also, what do you make of all the black mesa references? I mean obviously this takes place in the HL universe (hl-2: episode 2 revolves around the superportal and the Aperture Science research boat, the "Borealis") but was the facility a rival of black mesa when BM was tampering with portal/transportation technology (hl1)?
I have some suspicions that episode 3 will revolve around using the HPD, and maybe dive more into the origins of the Aperture science project ( G-man? combine?)
regardless this game had a great atmosphere, great gameplay, an addictive storyline and an interesting ending that both satisfies and leaves you wanting more.

The second half was when I really got into it. Before that point I had been enjoying it, but after the whole incinerator event I was like THAT BITCH IS GOING DOWN DAMN I'M DUKE NUKEM
Basically I thought that in the beginning companion cube wasn't THAT awesome, but by the end of the credits, I thought it was really great. They had my three favorite things, cake, the companion cube, and the radio playing that song. Also the fact that the radio tune was the end song was a brilliant touch. Both songs were awesome, of course.
Did you catch the overhead presentation about black mesa vs aperture at the end, right before the boss? That was great.
I've heard rumors that you can find the Portal protagonist in HL2 ep. 2 somewhere, although that's not confirmed. At any rate, yeah, it's clearly from the same universe, which I thought was a great touch.
I still say that overall, despite its shortness and even lack of enemies, it was a better single player game than HL2, with a more interesting story.

It's in an abandoned office that you can view through a window in a dead-end hallway off to the right, I believe. Right before some rocket sentry stuff.

I watched my friend beat it after school, it seems pretty fun, although short. He was going to show me this elaborate portal setup he made but his computer froze before he could.

You could shoot a portal at some chick's cooch and come out of her mouth. That'd be different!

It would be hilarious to shoot the blue portal at her cunt, shoot the orange portal at the wall, wait for her to take a shower and then stick my dick in the portal to scare the hell out of her.

Here's another one, but less dirty: shoot a portal on a reflective blue wall, put one near me, and just wait for people to run by so I could punch them.

Or shoot a portal on the ceiling, a portal on the floor, and drop a brick through it and leave it so it reaches terminal velocity. Then, go out onto the highway and re-shoot the floor portal onto a billboard, and watch the brick fuck up some cars.

Portal gun needs to be in the next GTA! You could toss a grenade under a dead hooker and make her body shoot into the portal and land on a police car, causing them to swerve and then a 40-car collision would happen.

Where do you get your info?
Portal is Valve's professionally-developed spiritual successor to the freeware game Narbacular Drop, the 2005 independent game released by students of the DigiPen Institute of Technology; the original Narbacular Drop team are now all employed at Valve. Certain elements have been retained from Narbacular Drop, such as the system of identifying the two unique portal endpoints with the colors orange and blue. A key difference in the signature portal mechanic between the two games however is that Portal's "portal gun" cannot create a portal through an existing portal unlike in Narbacular Drop.
