And by probably, I mean unequivocally:
"Bumblebee, known classically as a yellow Volkswagen Beetle, is being supped-up as a canary-colored Camaro. Megatron, the Decepticon leader who transformed into a powerful gun, may take the alternate form of an alien ship in the movie. And Soundwave, everyone's favorite boombox, may be scrapped in favor of the CD-slinging Soundbyte."

*twitch twitch*
I understand why Megatron hasn't been a gun since the G1 era, but everything else is just....GAH!!!! Especially the notion of inserting a f'ing 360 into it.

Big surprise.
It's a predictable enough formula:
1. Take something "classic", "retro", or highly appreciated by people who aren't fags
2. Put horrible advertisement tie-ins in it, change everything integral to the item in question, completely alter it while only vaguely name-dropping the original
3. Profit by selling it to a bunch of fucking tools who think they're cool for buying into it because it has the name of the original, despite the fact that it completely shits on the original
The list of stuff that's had this done to it is pretty much limitless. One example I can think of off the top of my head is the Doom movie. Bomberman for xbox 360 is probably another.

Bah, if its anything like "Masters of the Universe: The Motion Picture" which threw out cartoon canon for 80s family fun, I'll be most pleased indeed.

The He-Man movie was made made when He-Man was still hugely popular though. It may not have followed canon, but its heart was at least sort of in the right place.
Transformers is just a cheap attempt to cash-in on the 80s.

To be fair, both He-Man and Transformers were toy lines first, and cartoons second. Masters of the Universe was a different adaptation of the toys, separate from the cartoons. Transformers COULD be trying to do the same thing.
But probably not.

Dang-nab-it, you are correct on the toy observation. However, I'd like to believe either show was better than the toy lines... though those comics that came with He-Man figures were dang fun.
I have hope for a Transformers movie that completely obliterates everything good about the series. Unlike my G.I. Joe and Masters returning appreciation, I haven't been too excited by Transformers in the 21st century. The series took too many odd turns nor did it carry the same heart that humans or a group of turtles might have. I enjoyed Transformers back in the day, but they haven't recaptured my youth the way other returns from the 80s have.
But, I do love Michael Bay so I'm sure I'll be entertained by big explosions

Man, scripts get "leaked" all the time (already has happened several times with this movie in fact) and what you end up with scripts that have long since been rewritten. I wouldn't put much faith in these kinds of rumors just yet, last I heard, Soundwave was an Apache helicopter and Megatron was an Abrams tank. Unfortunately, Bumblebee is a camaro it seems. A tranformers site I visit posted pictures of some of the vehicles from the movie that a german site had in turn posted, the pictures are gone now, but there was a bright yellow camaro among them. Of course, there was also a sick looking armored militarytruck with spikes and whatnot with "Bonecrusher" spraypainted across the side, so that looked pretty cool. There was also a police cruiser with a Decepticon logo at the center of the seal on the doors surrounded by the words "To Crush and Enslave" or something like that instead of serve and protect. Of course, there's still a high chance it will suck on the whole, but I'm thinking it will at least be highly visually entertaining, which is really what Transformers has always been anyway.

This alone makes the movie awesome.
Okay, there also needs to be a giant 18-wheeler-no-holds-barred rampage chase through all civilization that rivals all the Terminator films put together.

I've also heard they want to enlist the voices of anyone still around from the G1 era to provide voices of those characters. I don't think that's viable as some 20+ years can really change the vocal chords. I'd hate to imagine Optimus sounding more like Wolverine from "Fox's X-Men."

It pretty much depends on the voice actor. A local radio station had Thurl Ravenscroft as a guest on their morning show back around 1999 and he sounded the same as he always had. To the best of my knowledge, he was the voice of Tony The Tiger up until his death in 2005 at age 91. He definitely did it well into his 80s.

I know Frank Welker did some voices in the series back in the day, but I don't remember which ones and if they're in this new movie. I'd just like to suggest that he probably wouldn't have any trouble doing voices he did 20+ years ago. Why? Because he's the god damned MASTER!

And he has the same vocals. Listen for him in Chronicles of Narnia.
And I'll agree, as many original voice actors as possible need to make cameos in the film.

I think I'm more worried for McG's "Hot Wheels". It has a weaker toy line to base itself off of.

Today, the writers are going announce which Transformers will be in the movie. Who the fuck cares? This movie is already dead to me.

Let's make our own Transformers movie, the transformers can be a Speak and Spell, a desk lamp, an empty can of Pabst Blue Ribbon and an old rotary phone. It's called TRANSFORMERS ZERO, it's a prequel so you know it'll do great at the box office.

Nah, they're toy line representations of the movie characters in the 2nd link.

Yeah, the second link is toy designs, except for the first pic of the helicopter one and the last one of Prime.
