Jimmy Fallon, it seems, will take over the host's chair from Conan O'Brien when the ginger man leaves it in 2009 to fill the shoes of the golden jaw, Jay Leno, on The Tonight Show. The announcement won't be made until after the first of the year, but the deal is a long way toward being done, and that's something.

Perhaps this is all part of Fallon's plan. It seems he's retracted himself from the public eye over the past year or so (partially due to the abject failure of films like Taxi) and it waiting for the right moment to re-insert himself into the public consciousness. This would be the perfect venue for that.

I really wish Leno would go to 2012 and make it an even 20 years. Leno's jokes are always great, but he's got a warm personality and I enjoy watching his show.

I am sick of Conan. His Late Night show is pretty much presented as a low budget show, but the low budgetness is badly feigned, and it's gotten old, at least to me. Conan really needs Andy Richter back, as the repartee between them was a highlight of the show in its glory days.

And Fallon should die. He's a bad Adam Sandler rip-off and nothing he's ever done is worth watching, except maybe Fever Pitch.

I hate Leno and love Conan... then again I haven't watched either in years, so it doesn't mean much.

In all honesty, I'm a Letterman at heart anyway.

In terms of Fallon, even the realm of imaginary numbers cannot describe his true value. By his true value, I mean that fact that he blows bears running Baccarat tables. Christ. Why? Why? If anyone has a good answer, I'll be astounded.

Ditto. Having a 9 to 5 job has pretty much put an end to me watching Conan every week. ("Irony!" says Jon Lovitz in the background, as I'm writing this at 12:10 at night).

I love Conan too. But, don't watch him very often.

I work nights, but I when I get home, I would rather get in a few hours of peaceful, uninterupted gaming while the Wife and kid are sleeping.

Wow, I guess no one here has TIVO or a DVR type system, eh?

Anyhow, Fallon was funny on SNL, which is kind of weird to say since SNL has been on the decline for a while. I love Conan O'Brien. His humor is just off the wall, but I do agree w/Syd, he really needs Andy Richter back. Andy was his perfect foil if you will.

I guess all we can do is wait and see how it goes.

I don't mind Conan, and Leno is great. But Fallon is a horrible choice. Now every episode of the tonight show will seem like the beginning of SNL after the opening sketch.

Fallon laughs at his own jokes and constantly mugs for the camera. His sole purpose on SNL seemed to be trying to get Horation Sanz to laugh during sketches.

Personally, I love Conan. I guess it's just because I'm a kid and alot of his jokes aren't really jokes. I've never really liked Leno though. Most of his jokes are just stupid one-liners or Non-sequiturs and he often repeats them more than once over the course of a week (yeah we get it, penquins walk a mile to have sex, whoop-dee-doo). I do wish Conan would stay in his current timeslot though. His show will most likely be toned down if he moves to an earlier time in the night and he wouldn't be able to do all of his "zany off the wall comedy bits." As for Jimmy Fallon, I really don't see him doing a good job with a talk show. But I think the realy thing we need to be discussing is how much Carson Daly sucks, am I right people?

YES! He is definitely known for corpsing. If you check corpsing on Wikipedia (it came up at work randomly for me a few weeks ago), his name is listed under the See Also category. I have to put up a picture.

Again, ha.
