First, the PC port of this game sucks - the 360 is better.
Second, this game officially pisses me off. I have nothing against the gameplay or even the graphics, which were all fairly nice (level design needed a little work), but this is a case of a game having so much potential that I'm just extremely let down. The writing really wasn't bad, sure there were tons of logical problems but I can forgive all that. Greg Grunberg is one of my favorite actors and I thought he pulled off a great job as the protagonist. The plot of a serial killer killing serial killers with their MOs and you having to "rescue" them is a pretty great moral dilemma of a plot to follow.
The problem is that there's so much happening around you and alluded to on loading screens that you want to know how it's all connected. But there we are at the end and it's NOT explored at all! I've had games do a shit job at explaining themselves before, but this game didn't feel like it deserved to be as ambiguous as it is. It's not even like Silent Hill, which gives you enough to piece together your own conclusions. It especially hurt, because the final showdown is with some "monster" I'd never seen before and I have no idea how it related to the story. Some cult plot got whipped out there at the last second and just has me scratching my head. I don't mind that there's a more powerful force at work controlling the events that will be explored in the sequel, but it feels like they both introduced and did not introduce enough of this storyline in this game. I'm really left just feeling empty.
I'm so frustrated my overall impressions of the game are significantly lower than they probably would've been had it been more self contained. It's like they wanted to make a game set during a major event, like "Dark Blue" took place during the Rodney King trial, but because there's no reference for what's going on it's actually quite ineffective. And SKX proved to be underwhelming himself.
I know this game came out a couple of years ago, but since we still don't have a sequel, I think that only adds to my distaste for this game... Not that I even feel compelled to play the sequel at this point... Especially since Grunberg's not coming back.

Little bit of an update for you incase you hadn't heard, Sega is working on Condemned 2. I just found out about that from some E3 coverage. So hopefully they address the problems you pointed out, huh?
What's wrong with the PC version, out of curiousity? Suffers from consolitis by having been shoehorned onto an inferior platform first?

They've got a small section on Condemned 2 in the newest piece of shit Game Informer. It says you'll be playing as the main character of the first one again, but now he's a vigilante or some crap like that (sorry, but I don't have the info in front of me at the moment).
The biggest thing I hated about the first one was the disappointing ending. Well, both of the disappointing endings, as they didn't cover anything. At least the final battle was neat.

From D-toid:
Word from the Hollywood Reporter is that director Tarsem Singh is set to helm the upcoming science fiction thriller, The Unforgettable. The film's plot involves a cop who, over the course of a murder investigation, realizes that he's not human and becomes entangled in a war between good and evil aliens.
The Warner Bros. Pictures film (originally titled Species X) is based off of a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment videogame. Can you guess which one? That game is Condemned: Criminal Origins, and it was not about a war between good and evil aliens. Or maybe it was -- I loved that game, but man, it didn't make much sense.
Let's hope that the film adaptation, written by Kurt Sutter (who looks like Fabio and wrote a bunch of episodes of The Shield), will be a bit more coherent. If anything, the film will likely be gorgeous -- director Tarsem Singh is best known for stellar looking music video and commercial work. Singh also directed the visually stunning 2000 film, The Cell, which didn't make too much sense either, now that I think of it.
Oh, well. I guess if we're looking for stupid, easy to understand entertainment, there's always Uwe Boll's Far Cry ... and porno.

The PC version (which I should state was loaded on my computer with the lowest specs, cause it isn't a gaming machine) looked terrible and abridged the levels from the X-Box version.
I'm already not interested in Condemned 2 just because Greg Grunberg isn't coming back (or so I've heard). What I did like about the first game was that the main character looked like the unconventional game hero, plus I love Grunberg is everything he's done.
Also I thought there was too little story in the first game to even make me care about the sequel. ...And I just realized I stated all this in my first post, so sorry for the repeat, but I'm glad I'm consistent!

Yeah, the PC one doesn't run as good or control as good with a mouse, IMO, I have an alright computer. I just beat this the other day, and man this game seemed to be rushed like hell. Your lucky you didn't run into ridiculous bugs, on 3 different 360's parts of the game wouldn't load, and kept me from beating the game till now.

I'll say that the PC version was worth the $5 I spent at GameStop's clearance bin.

The new trailer for 2 is out. Yeah, there's hell to pay because the new voice actor sounds AWFUL!!!!
Most of the gameplay looks dull, but I like some of the creature designs.

And with the Highlander game trailer, today's been a sucky day of voice overs... Or voice actors who fail to capture the awesomeness of the original.

What the fuck is Lambert doing that's so damn important that he can't voice The Highlander? If Bill Murray can find time to voice Peter in a Ghostbusters game, I don't see why Lambert can't voice McCloud.

No kidding! The last film I saw him in was "Southland Tales" and I'm 100% sure that did not help his career in the least.
