I just flipped through the paper the other day and saw all the following bands coming to town in the next few months:
Def Leppard
Rush
Styx
Megadeth
Gwar
Lynyrd Skynyrd
I might go see Gwar, just so I can say I did. That, and the fact that Goatwhore is playing with them, and they're a pretty kick ass band.

Don't see Skynyrd. My friend saw them a few years ago and said they sucked. And seeing as at least half of them died in a plane crash, that's not surprising. Also, they're a 70s band, as are Styx. Rush was relevant in both decades, so I'll let you count them as an 80s band.

I wouldn't see Syknard if you paid me. I'm not a fan of Southern Rock.
Styx, I believe falls into 70s and 80s, as "Paradise Theatre" was thier most successful album and it was released in 1981. Also, "Mr. Roboto" was a huge hit for them in 1983. I wouldn't bother with them either, seeing as Tommy Shaw is the only original member still in the band. Why even use the same band name, when it's really a completly diffent band.
By that token, Velvet Revolver could be STP, just becasue Scott Weiland's in it.

Velvet Revolver does play STP songs at their concerts, though, so you may be on to something there.
And Audioslave used to play Rage and Soundgarden songs as well. I don't think Weiland ever had the balls to do any GNR.

They do a couple of GN'R songs.... usually "It's So Easy" and "Mr. Brownstone". I think they've done "Used To Lover Her" as well.
They don't do any of the big hits, because they're way too Axl for Scott to pull off.
They also do a cover of Nirvana's "Negative Creep".

I'm gonna see them in August. I wouldn't mind hearing some old STP or GNR stuff, and they'll probably be more inclined to play their own songs now that they have another album of material.

Megadeth is supposed to be coming around here some time soon. I hope I get the chance to see them this time. Last year they came with Overkill. I was so pissed we couldn't go.
