Wow... he's retarded. Any petition that gets enough publicity can easily get one million signatures. You could make one claiming that Hitler was awesome and a million people would sign it.

I predict that Uwe Boll will use the inevitable signature fraud that will occur as an excuse not to retire.

"Hi, here's Uwe Boll, and I have a statement to make about that internet petition. There's a petition out, 'Stop Uwe Boll,' and I said like 1 million people on the petition, I stop actually making movies. I want that there's a petition out there, like a pro-Boll petition, and I expect a million votes pro-Boll. I hope somebody would set it up and you all start signing it, because look: I'm not a fucking retard like Michael Bay or other people running around in the business, or Eli Roth making the same shitty movies over and over again. If you really look at my movies, you will see my real genius, you know? And if you go on May 23 and Postal, you will see that I deliver a movie what nobody else delivered in the last 10 years -- what is way better as all that social critic George Clooney bullshit what you get every fucking weekend. So you have to really wake up and you have to see me what I am. I'm the only genius in the whole fucking business. Goodbye."

I had a chance to see Postal for free two weeks ago. I passed.

I tracked down who's signing that petition, and these are like a few people, getting under different identities and things in the internet and signing it over and over again. The second thing is that I was able to find that actually Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg under various different identities posting ongoing that I should stop making movies, and I know why: They are afraid of the competition. What jealous internet nerds and wannabe filmmakers are signing that petition?

Back at Blizzcon 2007, Blizzard teased fans with the idea of a big budget World of Warcraft-themed Hollywood movie. At the time, Legendary Pictures was earmarked to oversee production of the film, ostensibly with as much as $100 million worth of capital to spend on making it good. In other words: a great opportunity for someone skilled at the art of game-film translation to make a respectable name for himself in Hollywood.
Since that time, there's been plenty of interest in the project, but to date no individual has actually come forth to fill the coveted role of director. Presumably, this scenario has set plenty of aspiring Hollywood types to sniffing around Blizzard's door, asking if there's any work to be done around the house.

One person who will not be directing the World of Warcraft movie however is notorious game movie butcher Uwe Boll. As reported over on the MTV Movies Blog, the great Uwe was unceremoniously shown the front door after recently making contact with Blizzard execs in order to pitch himself as a directorial candidate.

"I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard," said Boll. "And he said, 'We will not sell the movie rights, not to you... especially not to you because it's such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it.'"

Boll? Make a bad movie? Fah! what does Blizzard know about mainstream commercial success anyway?

In a amusing display of sour grapes, Boll also took the opportunity to offhandedly dismiss the 'hardcore' gaming audience's ability to appreciate his cinematic delights.

"You go for it to please the game fans, but on the other hand if you have the hardcore gamers, they live in their own world. And you cannot fulfill their ideas from a video game based movie, it's impossible," said Boll. "To be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don't pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys? I need the normal audience."

A reasonable position, one supposes. If more than 200,000 individual gamers had just recently petitioned against your filmmaking career, maybe you wouldn't care about pleasing them either.
