If you ever badmouth National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation again, I will beat the Pepsi Free out of you, you cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit. Hallelujah! Holy shit!

Where's the Tylenol?

I'm really happy that you included the Muppets' Christmas Carol. It seems like not many people know about it... but my very favorite Christmas tradition is to watch that movie with my sister like the week before Christmas.

I don't remember the exact scientific proof, but when you remake something with Muppets, it's going to fucking rock.

^ That belongs in the 'best Syd quotes' thread. Cool

I have one objection to The Muppets Make Things Better rule: Muppet Wizard of Oz. Oh god, it was terrible.

I decided to watch it thinking, "oh muppets! Yay!", and then I had to sit there and bear Ashanti's crummy... everything. I would say that it's sad when you're out-performed by a gang of puppets, but these aren't just any puppets. They're the muppets, and they can kick ass! ...Just not in the Wizard of Oz.

I would prefer to forget this movie exists.

Spanky, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is awesome. If you read more closely, you will notice I was badmouthing National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2, a direct to video sequel from 2003 that starred Randy Quaid. I would never, EVER badmouth a Chevy Chase movie especially not NLCV. I have added the NLCV2 subtitle to the article to avoid further confusion.

Eeriely enough, that was my comment to the article as well on the main site.

As for Christmas Vacation, I caught that (Syd) trashed the direct to video sequel by adding the 2. Thank you, thank you. However, I was still plenty pissed about the wrong moral Syd walked away with on Jingle All the Way.

Anakin Skywalker didn't need presents, he needed to know his father loved him and explained that to him in terms Arnie would understand.

The dialogue after Anakin gives the Turbo Man doll to Sinbad goes like this:

Arnold (still dressed as Turbo Man): But Jamie, I thought you wanted that doll more than anything!
Anakin: What do I need a DOLL for? I've got the real Turbo Man at home!

The implication is that he thinks Arnold gets to keep the Turbo Man suit, thus meaning young Anakin has received the coolest toy ever.

I remember the line vividely, but I really think that Anakin knew what was going on and knowing his father wouldn't understand that all he wanted for Christmas was for his father to actually BE THERE. So he explained it to the big lug in terms he could understand - "You are my toy, Commando!". I don't think it was about toys as much as parential neglect. There's no doubt in my mind that Anakin was smarter than Arnold.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but in the middle of a Christmas marathon by myself, I ended up watching "Jingle All the Way". Just now there's a scene right after Arnold sucks the shit out of reindeer where his wife and kid are with Hartman and his fat fuck son. In the car there's the following conversation:

Anakin: Is dad going to be at the parade?
Mom: I wouldn't count on it.
Fat Fuck: Look at this way, Turbo Man is going to be there and you can always count on him.

This alone may not mean much, but make Arnold look even worse, but add that Anakin's been shouting at Arnold the whole movie that he never keeps his promises and that Arnold will eventually become Turbo Man... I think we're seeing a shift in character in both our eyes as well as Anakin's. Turbo Man always keeps his promises, so if Arnold is now seen as Turbo Man doesn't that mean when the movie ends Arnold will never miss his son's karate matches ever again? I believe so. Yep, no morale here, but we do get to see a shift in character.

BTW, Brian Webster is faggoty no talent hack and fuck with ass with a candy cane. Merry Christmas, everyone. On to "Surviving Christmas" and "Die Hard".

I don't know if anyone picked up on it yet or not... but wasn't the old man in Home Alone named Old Man Marley, not Old Man Murphy?

On a side note, I watched that movie for the first time in five years the other night. Holy shit, Syd's got it dead on. The scenes in which Harry and Marv are trying to break into the house might be the funniest fall-down humor ever created. Marv grabbing his foot and falling down the stairs after stepping on a nail. Priceless.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

It is indeed Old Man Marley, my bad. I was watching RoboCop while I was working on this article, it must have been a Freudian slip.

My sister was watching it tonight and saw bits and pieces of it. What I saw wasn't so bad... Jeffrey Tambor as the wizard was pretty entertaining and the whole thing with Quentin Tarantino was hilarious.

QT was awesome... all 2 minutes of it. No complaints about the wizard, but the film is pretty terrible.
