Chrisophe Gans, the man who is responsible for the big-screen adaptation of Silent Hill, will be behind the lens when shooting begins on Onimusha, the film based on the Japanese game franchise that pits samurai vs. demons in a fight to the death.

Takeshi Kaneshiro, the actor on whom the lead character in Onimusha is modeled, will, in fact, be playing the lead in the film, so that's nice. Also, Gans will be taking his time with the $70 million project, which means that it won't be hitting the theaters until 2009.

Hmm, not if they're going with the first game's story, but that WOULD be awesome.

I support Jean Reno. I also support not allowing Roger Avery anywhere near that script.

I'm confused.

Silent Hill sucked ass, so why are we excited that the guy who ruined Silent Hill gets to ruin Onimusha as well?

Because Silent Hill LOOKED great. It was the script that sucked. I blame Gans for not kicking Avery's ass with that one, but maybe with a new screenwriter Gans can pull it off.

Uwe Boll's films, on the other hand, have never looked good no matter who the screenwriter was.
