Fresh on the heels of the announcement of Phoenix Wright 3 comes the word that another lawyer game is coming to a Sony PS2 or PSP near you.

Look for Birdman to be a funnier law-talking' game than Phoenix. According to the game's developer, Capcom, Harvey is an "interactive fiction game that merges the fun and mayhem of the popular Adult Swim TV show with Capcom’s unique style of gameplay."

“With Capcom’s past success in the legal game-play arena, working with them to bring Harvey Birdman to a whole new platform was the perfect verdict for both companies,” said Christina Miller, vice president of consumer products for Cartoon Network Enterprises, the licensing and merchandising division of Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. “Fans should really enjoy being in control of the barely controllable legal 'eagle' Harvey Birdman."

Over the course of the game, players guide Harvey through a series of odd and comical cases. To prove his client’s innocence, Harvey must explore the scene of the crime, gather evidence, talk with other cartoon characters, occasionally have drinks with opposing council, and of course, tear holes –no matter how ridiculous- in the testimony provided by the witnesses for the prosecution.

Seems like the PSP now is copying the DS every step of the way.

You can't blame Sony. It's Capcom that's simply cashing in on making a Lawyer game for Sony systems to collect in on the success that Nintendo has with Phoenix.

Fun fact: The correct classification of these games are visual novels.

Wouldn't about every Hentai "Adventure" or Dating Sim, fall into this category as well? Since, you just read through them, and occasionally get to make a "Pick option A or B" once in a blue moon.

Yeah, but a session of Phoenix Wright doesn't end with tissues (hopefully).

I hate to be rude, but get your story straight. Capcom created the Phoenix Wright/Gyakuten Saiban series, not Nintendo. So Capcom isn't copying anyone. Why is it that everytime a new franchise comes out for a Nintendo system, people think Nintendo made it?

I don't quite think Knyte was saying it like that. Unless I'm completely wrong, I believe Knyte was more referring to the fact that instead of porting the game or creating of doing something more creative, Capcom is just trying to make another series to make money. It's kind of like:

Crackdown or Saint's Row is to Grand Theft Auto as Harvey Birdman is to Phoenix Wright...except for the fact that the last two are going to be made by the same company.

I know that Knyte knew what he was talking about, but the wording of it may be confusing. He wasn't saying "Nintendo made it, and Sony is copying", but rather "Capcom loves our money and is using any measure necessary to get it".

A gameplay video from ComicCon.

Love the Guile cameo. The game seems like its more of an interactive movie rather than the gameplay of Phoenix Wright though.

Lastly, it's going to be on the Wii (as well as possibly the PS2/P).

Making a popular series and whoring it out without changing the formula until all the money you could possibly sap out of it is basically what Capcom does. At least they are reliable.

Interesting note, have you counted all of the games capcom has made that have german suplexes as an available manuaver? You may be suprised.

Does it ever really end? I've beaten it maybe twice and it keeps coming up with a new reason for me to play the same game again.

Nope. It's one of those games that just goes on until you've gotten bored/run out of shit to collect. Once you've beaten it once, you've seen the ending, though.

So Jack Thompson is in this game?

Stephen Colbert didn't provide any voicework, but he's the sole exception to the show's VAs doing work for the game.
