A few years ago, I bought a region-override boot disc for my Gamecube so that I'd be able to import Soul Calibur II. I did this because the Japanese version came out in May, the US version came out at the end of August, and I wanted a fun fighting game to play with my friends over the summer before we all went back to school.
I've been thinking about importing some of the games that were only released in Japan, but I don't really know what's good. I'm looking at two games so far, both of which seem to be pretty pricy and hard to find. They are: DreamMix TV - World Fighters and Hudson Selection Volume 4: Adventure Island.
If anyone can suggestion any other good GCN games I could import, LMK. There is only one caveat... me no speaka Japanese, so the game has to have very limited text or there has to be a Translation FAQ somewhere.

I didn't. I'm thinking of getting it used now, as it goes pretty cheap.
I was so annoyed when I found out the US version had extras. I mean what the hell? When does America EVER get extra features in a game?

I LOLed at all of the people who imported, while I had to wait. I'm gonna suggest picking up a copy from each system, good buddy. it's cheap enough, and the bonus cahracters are reason enough.

I beat my friend at that game with 5 perfects in a row using Mitsurugi. He got so angry that he took the game out of the gamecube, put it into its case, then threw that case at the wall, putting a hole in the wall.
He took it back the next day.

What about Naruto: Clash of the Ninja 3 and 4? Are those worth my time? Jeebus bought the first one, but the roster kinda sucked. CotN2 seems to have a better roster and I assume the later two would be better...

I'm not sure if it was 3 or 4, but the one I played at one of my cons had just about everyone you could think of in the roster. I think it was 4 though, there were easily 40+ characters if you unlock them all.

The Japanese Sonic Mega Gems Collection has Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle) 1, 2, and 3 on it. Can't get those on the VC yet, and they were mysteriously absent from the SEGA Genesis Collection on PS2. Sonic Gems JPN also has a port of the PC version of Sonic CD that uses the original Japanese/European soundtrack instead of the North American one. It's not exactly the same as playing the actual MegaCD version, but it's close enough if you're at all curious.

SOR 1,2,3 are on the Sonic Mega Collection Plus which was released on Xbox and possibly PS2. That version had Comix Zone as well.

Are you sure about that? Sonic Mega Collection PLUS, as far as I know, included Comix Zone, The Ooze, and half of the Sonic Game Gear games that were featured on Sonic Adventure DX, in addition to all the games included on the regular GCN version of SMC. I've never before heard of SOR being on SMC+, be that the PS2 version or the Xbox version, and can't find any indication of such from FAQs, codes, message boards, or reviews (and that includes SEGA's own website).

My bad. Streets of Rage 1-3 are actually not on ANY version of Sonic Mega Collection. They are on the Japanese version of the Sonic Gems Collection. The games are confirmed to have been cut from allAmerican and European releases of the Sonic Gems Collection, along with Bonanza Brothers. They may be on the Australian version as well, but I doubt it.

Hence my recommendation of Soinc Gems (GCN JPN). Of course, if you're not interested in the SOR games, then this whole point is moot.

I ended up ordering DreamMix TV World Fighters from a site called GameBaz, they seem pretty good, but I had to pay them via PayPal, which seems a little shady.

Yes, but you have buyer protection with Paypal, so it could be worse. At least your not e-mailing a credit card number or anything.

Well, I'd like to think I'm smart enough not to e-mail someone my credit card info.

DreamMix TV: World Fighters came today. Good times.
It's a pretty fun Smash Brothers rip-off, especially for J-philes or old school gamers. The full chararcter roster is:
KONAMI:
1. Power Pro-Kun (Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball)
2. Simon Belmont
3. Twinbee
4. Solid Snake
5. Moai (Gradius)
TAKARA:
1. Licca (a popular Japanese doll with her own line)
2. Tyson Granger (Beyblade)
3. Optimus Prime
4. Megatron
5. Microman & Robot Man (from the Micromen/Micronauts toyline)
6. Asuka (from the Cool Girls/Cy Girls toyline)
HUDSON:
1. Bomberman
2. Momotarou (Momotarou Densetsu)
3. Master Higgins
4. Hugo (Bloody Roar)
5. Manjimaru (Tengai Makyou/Kabuki Klash)
6. God of Poverty (Momotarou Densetsu)
Both Megatron and Optimus actually transform. It's ridiculously awesome.
The game lacks any real depth, but it's charming nonetheless.
