Seriously, you guys have to check out this game.
And yes. Dreamworks, those movie guys.
This game was a cool-ass mech game and the first game in NCS/Masiya's Assault Suits series, released on March 16th, 1990 in America. Cybernator (Assault Suits Valken) was the sequel to this game.... It shared some similarities such as the gameplay mechanics, same types of mechs, conversations with NPCs to make you feel like you're not a one-man army, and even the Zero-G combat, and the bosswho taunts you 'til the end, and when you defeat him, you face th political leader.
Also there's some humorous engrish (Someone's name being Rance!?)
Although you can't see it (and I didn't get very far in the game yet) Target Earth has some of the best effects on the Genesis back in 1990. Also, the music is pretty great, and you have a huge ass arsenal, for an early Genesis game. (15 weapons, 7 which Leynos can arm at once)
One little quirk to this game. IT'S DAMN HARD. good thing you can recharge your life by just sitting there...
If you hadn't been convinced yet, get this and your time will be swallowed up. This is one of the great games the Genesis had...
Oh yeah, the boxarts...
