Saw it tonight, bought the last ticket to the last show not already sold out. I've been hyped for this movie for months and it didn't let me down at all. The artistic style added to it was amazing and there a few times where they used shadow in really cool ways. For those familiar with the comic, the movie doesn't stray too far from it, though some things are added because they're trying to fill two hours. But just about everything added in was really badass and made sense within the time period, I'll get into more when everybody's seen it and I'm not spoiling anything. Just go see it, you'll think it's sweet too.

Oh sure, you have money to see 300, but when it's cocaine time, your wallet's always empty.
Did you see it in a regular theater or IMAX?

I saw it last night too. Pretty good. Would've of liked more talk about Athens being sacked though.
Anyway, ignore the uppity critics and go see the movie people.

Hey, I had to beg that money off my mom! I mean...er..I earned it working my high paying job of secret agent cowboy astronaut...
The only thing I didn't care for about the movie was the tacked on subplot of his wife trying to appeal to the council. Boringgggg...

So I was playing poker with a friend of mine last night who had seen 300. He was telling me about it on the way out to where we were playing. Every time he made a bet, he would push it up and yell, "FOR SPARTA!" He did this up until we weer about to go, when he started rolling his chips on the table and if any chips went of the table, he would then yell "FOR SPARTA!" and then double the amount that rolled of the table.
I'm gathering that "FOR SPARTA!" is a big moment in the movie. =-=laughs=-=
I need to go see this... even if it's not about bowling.

You know what really grinds my Gears..
People that start randomly and frequently Quoting lines from a movie that they had just seen. Especially when they have in the past had absolutely no reason to say that in any situation, but because it is the tag line of a current popular movie, and people will understand, if not in the context of it's original use, but at the very least in relation to the current popular movie.
That's what really grinds my Gears..

Technically, you could quote silent films. Many of them did employ text.

But then we might as well just start quoting books, and the Code of the Measure forbids that.

There is no point in making anymore movies about bowling. Nothing could ever supplant The Big Lebowski.
But, it's nice that someone is finally trying to make more movies reagarding the Battle of Thermopylae.
Algren: There was once a battle at a place called Thermopylae, where three hundred brave Greeks held off a Persian army of a million men... a million, you understand this number?
Katsumoto: I understand this number.
******************************************************************
Katsumoto: What happened to the warriors at Thermopylae?
Algren: Dead to the last man.
(Katsumoto grins.)

Oh, that cracked me up.
And, yes, 300 is awesome. I'm glad you all liked it. Most of the people I know "liked it" but thought the story, characterization, and acting all suffered. I really don't give a crap from a movie that wasn't trying to be some great picture. It was trying to make an awesome movie for our demographic. Guess what, critics, they succeeded and made $100 mil+ to boot. It's not about racism or Iraq (though I did think there were some interesting coincidences allegorically), it's about a badass culture of people who might have been cooler had Frank Miller actually been God.

The only thing that bugged me was the Oracle. Couldn't they have found a slightly hotter chick? She had A cups and 3 inch nipples. It came off as scary, not seductive.

This movie is indeed awesome, and I'm happy I saw it. I forget if I mentioned, but the director of this movie's next project is Watchmen, another comic book movie (regarded as the best graphic novel of all time). He wants the guy that played Leonidas in it as well, though I'm not sure as who.

I was intentionally looking for that, and I saw metaphors for both sides of the Iraq coin.

Exactly. Bush finds onto either side Someone purposed the film was about Bush vs. Bush. People are trying a bit too hard to get the film some merit.
