(I didn't put this in movies because I figured the AA counts as random discussion,since it has about as much to do with movies now as my dead cats)
Well,the Academy Awards are over,and well have to wait another year before this shitfest starts up again. Seriously,this gigantic popularity contest annoys me, particularly this year. Why? Because Children Of Men didn't win ANYTHING.And the Departed won EVERYTHING.
Now I loved the Departed,it was a great cat-and-mouse thriller,but it doesn't compare to Children of Men at all.It may be one of the best films in the past decade. Ballsy statement,I know,but its true. From the wonderful acting to the beautiful cinematography,you couldn't ask for much more.But it gives you more. It gives you a message. A message that people can unite,no matter the state of the world. How people can unite in the most dire of circumstances. And it didn't win anything at all. Why? Because It wasn't popular enough. It got almost no press,and limited release. The Departed,Pans Labyrinth,and apparently the Queen,which I haven't seen were advertised reasonably well,and they were popular.Now Pans Labyrinth was just as good as COM,but in a different way. Id go into it,but I'm tired,and ill talk about it later.It probably won shit because it was directed by the same director as Hellboy,and Blade 2(both TEH AWESOME action movies),so people kindave knew his name .So since EVERYONE knows that the AA are a big popularity contest,COM got fucked in the ass. And it pisses me the hell off. Peace people,ill be back later to bitch some more.
