In 2009, Dustin Diamond wrote Behind the Bell, a scandalous tell-all that revealed what life was reportedly like on the set of Saved by the Bell, NBC’s still beloved series that ran from 1989–1993 and turned its cast of fresh-faced actors into megastars.
Diamond wrote that everyone in the cast, except him, was sleeping together (including threesomes!), and many were dabbling in drugs. Diamond’s memoir tipped off Hollywood to the fact there was a lot more going on behind the scenes.
Now, thanks to hours of brand-new interviews conducted for this film (obtained independently of Diamond and his book), the real story will be brought to life in The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, a new Lifetime television movie that promises to change the way that fans look at the classic kids’ comedy. |
With as much SBTB I watched after school as a kid, I feel obligated to watch this.

I will watch this because I also watched way too much SBTB. I want to hear about Belding just railing coke on the 'school' floor or something else equally salacious.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much. |

I wonder if they will go into any details on the previous show, Good Morning, Miss Bliss.

I don't think it's fitting, but I would enjoy that greatly. I like Joel McHale's standard, but I don't feel I've seen him in any roles where he's not that sarcastic dick-type character ( Community , The Soup) outside of maybe one or two short sketches. I think he could pull it off, although now I'm questioning why I'm thinking so deeply about the acting quality in a Lifetime movie.
EDIT: If anything, Joel McHale would only make it more watchable.

Something about his look reminds me of the Belding from SBTB.
I think he might have the chops to nail the mannerisms and such. Maybe.

Where can I see this? I used to watch that show religiously back when I was a kid. That's pretty funny if all that shit was going down behind the scenes though. What I wouldn't give to go back in time and bust into a SBTB after party!

One of the bests lines uttered on 90's sitcom TV
Bud: "Close your eyes first, Dad, because there's a few minutes left of 'Saved by the Bell: The Prison Years'."
