Syd loves this topic, so when I saw this article on Drudge yesterday, thought I should post it:

"Ditka: Obama Would Not Be President If I Ran Against Him For Senate

NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka is regretting not running against President Barack Obama for the Illinois Senate seat in 2004.

During an interview with The Dickinson Press following his appearance at North Dakota’s Oil Patch grand opening ceremony, the former Chicago Bears coach and current NFL analyst for ESPN believes Obama would not be president right now if he ran for Senate.

'Biggest mistake I’ve ever made,' Ditka said. 'Not that I would have won, but I probably would have and he wouldn’t be in the White House.”

He must pay for his mistake! Heh. Laughing

He's probably right. Ditka is God, as they say out there..

IIRC, he didn't want to run at the time because he had business opportunities. Can't blame a guy for wanting to make some money.

There's going to be a fun run at Soldier Field at the end of November called the "Ditka Dash," where everybody wears fake mustaches, big 80s sunglasses, and a fake Bears sweater like Ditka used to wear. My marathon enthusiast, ex-marine buddy is going to participate, and dress up as "Hurricane Ditka" from the dialogue in one of the SNL Superfans sketches. It's gonna be hilarious. Wish I could participate too, but it's scheduled for the day after my wedding. I hope my buddy isn't too hungover from the previous night, from being my best man, heh.
