Given all of their recent actions, is this really THAT much of a surprise?

Maybe now they'll get the message and un-cancel Mega Man Legends 3, among other such matters.

Probably not. With $152 million in the bank, expect them to shift toward mobile/digital games for the time being. Expect more stuff like DuckTales Remastered and Mystara Chronicles, stuff that is cheap to produce and offers a higher return.

Also, a sale could be imminent. I would expect Namco, Sega, and Nintendo to be among the top parties interested.

I'd love to see what Retro Studios could do with a Mega Man game.

Also, what if Street Fighter and the [SOMETHING] Vs. Capcom series became Nintendo exclusives? Just watching the internet eat itself alive would make it worth it.

I love that something being exclusive to Nintendo can potentially cause the whole of the internet to collapse in on itself. And people think they're starting to become irrelevant.

Also, this is such a sweet slap in the face on Capcom in the light of Mighty No.9.

Absolutely agreed. It's delightfully hilarious.

I kinda want to back MN9, but April 2015? That's a hell of a preorder!

I guess this means VJ 3 is never going to happen.

And they are going to focus on dlc? Isn't that one of the reasons why people are frustrated with them in the first place?

I doubt it would happen, but I would love to see Konami buyout Capcom.

And then once Konami goes under, Nintendo buys them both.

I want to make an image labeled "How to make a new Mega Man game" or something similar with Rockman Xover on one side and Mighty No.9 on the other, but I want to wait until a proper in-development screenshot of the latter is released for greater authenticity. I might have to do that sooner if Capcom's situation doesn't improve soon.

Konami's not doing great either. They only put out a handful of games each year, and their last couple big releases didn't do well.

Revengeance sold 1.25 copies between PS3/360.
NeverDead sold 140,000 copies.
Silent Hill: Downpour sold 590,000 copies.
Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate sold 90,000 copies.
PES 13 sold 1.9 million copies over 7 platforms.
Snake Eater 3DS sold 240,000

Those are their big releases over the last two years. Pretty sure Atlus has done better numbers than this.

How supremely poetic would it be if Comcept ends up buying out Capcom?

Yeah, except Konami has way more money and has more to rely on than just video games, unlike Capcom.
