In two years, I will have been a member of the forums for a FRIGGING DECADE! When the hell did that happen? When did I get old? Where am I?
In all seriousness though, I remember a few years ago when a few forumers who had left came back, Syd something something along the lines of "nobody ever REALLY leaves." That was some truth. I've spent the last few days going through some of Syd's old articles and reading the forums and I gotta say, this little corner of the Internet still feels like e-home.
Good on you all for keeping it going while I was off at graduate school.
Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I know what you mean. When I first joined I was a 25 year old heathen with no real life, now I'm a homeowner with a wife and a daughter and I'm nearly 30. Things change way fast.

I've been here since 2008 and am currently a 21 year old heathen with no real life beyond school. Seeing people who were similarily lifeless when they first joined is encouraging that I can become a contributing member to society one day lol.

I, myself, am a joined-in-'08er and the time I've been active here has outlasted that of when I frequented GameWinners, though they still send me a birthday greeting every year.

I don't have much to say, I've loved the community that's formed around this site. Though the IRC and the Forums are both to the point of death, I have to say I still love it all.

I think we need a "where are they now" thread soon so we can all get properly re-acquainted. I dig knowing a bit about everyone on the forums.

Isn't next year the tenth anniversary of the site? We should have a big get together with old and new members of the forums.

I first joined the forums here around the time when the SNES list was still pretty new. I used a different username back then and I desperatly wanted to be able to write like Syd, so I did the worst thing possible and tried to copy his style. Looking back, it was cringe worthy and some parts even downright embarrassing. My life got busy and I didn't come here for a few years, then signed back up and found it still had all the charm as it did before. Also, being a member here has really helped me with my writing. I have been trying to write a novel for the longest, and since I'm a family man with basically no life outside of home I can get to know people here and still observe the different personalities so all the characters in my book aren't just different versions of me.
I wish there was some place everyone here could go like once a year and just hang out.

Jesus christ. I joined when I was fucking 12, at the end of my 6th grade year. Now I'm 17, almost 5 years later. I was around here for a lot of my formative years. You guys fucked me up.

Wow, I've been around long enough to remember the last time we discussed a group meetup.

Pretty much what I was then and what I am now.
I just turned 30 today and I have to say that the nostalgia sickness has died down quite a bit in that time but I always like knowing this place is around just to get opinions on pop culture/gaming from people who pretty much are on the same page as me in most regards.
I find myself online alot less these day because of the time required to be a good dad and husband but I still consider this and probably 4-5 other sites I will always check since I am sure the wifey understands I still need my nerd escapes at times.
All that aside I have to say the most fun trolling here for me at least would have to have been
it was done for the lulz but I hope everyone is doing good in life these days and no hard feelings.

Good lord. You have just made me feel incredibly old. I despise you for that.
Not really. I was similar to you when I was your age, only it was x-entertainment, back when the site was still worth browsing. I spent an ungodly amount of wasted youth on their irc chat room. Does irc even exist anymore? Where's my cane?
Cause that's how I roll bounce.

Yep, I joined but a gentle 16 year old.. I've admittedly been too much of a lurker lately, to the point I'm sure nobody knows who I am but I still miss this place.
