Apparently, South African chef Albert Buitenhuis is facing deportation for being obese. He weighs 286 pounds, but despite losing a ton of weight since moving to New Zealand, apparently he's to fat to live in the country.

All I can say is: WHAT?! Are you fucking kidding me? I can understand wanting to reduce obesity rates and whatnot, but forcing a man out of his home and kicking him out of the country? Come on now, that's fucking ridiculous!

This happens all the time in the US as well. Many countries have very strict immigration policies. If you read the article, the man was denied because of their health care system. I can understand New Zealand wanting to keep those costs low, as you can get a procedure like an MRI for less than 100 USD there, while you would pay over 1000 in the US. You also have to realize that the population of NZ is only around 4.5 million people, so they naturally don't want a lot of people coming there to live.

True story, I was recently denied a work visa in France because I have slight hearing issues in my left ear. Sovereign nations can do and say whatever they want to keep foreigners out.

Fascinating. I imagine the NZ immigration bureau has been working overtime for the past decade declining applications from the LOTR dweebs.

Well, New Zealand's not that big. Maybe they don't have enough room.

Do they make you pay for two seats on the airplane while deporting you?
