I haven't heard of it until now, but this looks really cool. The mere thought of being able to play Sweet Home on my NES is getting me all hot and bothered. Some of the original games look really neat, too.

I was mostly interested because the prices are overall lower than on ebay or amazon. I might check this out more.

I emailed them before about ordering stuff.
They seem pretty dead on. I wanted a copy of Sweet Home made but i never went through with it because i had to allocate my funds elsewhere.

I have Sweet Home on my Powerpak, among other non-western releases, a good number of which that site carries.

Q: Is This Legal?
A: Creating these cart's that were never released into the US market, are Legal. None of the developer's, programmers, or company's are losing money due to this. These are game's that were never released, and therfore not taking away from any of there profits. |
I don't /think/ copyright works like that.

What you are NOT paying for, is the rom/image of the game All of the rom's can be downloaded all across the internet. |
Like, I'm /pretty sure/ that just because a game wasn't released in your market doesn't mean that it's legal to go download a ROM, and certainly not to go and start /selling/ it.
I'd just be kind of anxious about giving money to someone over the internet, for something that's at the very least of /questionable/ legality, who doesn't have a very good grasp on English and keeps saying "No man, trust me, they can't do anything about it." Maybe I'm just a skeptic.
Edit: And yeah, I don't think "No, you're not /paying/ for the illegally copied ROM, you're just paying for its packaging and I'm giving it to you for free" is a real loophole. Maybe it's okay if you throw the cartridge away after twenty-four hours

Would you really get fined or arrested or something if you ordered from a site like this, though, if it was illegal? What would the chances of that be?
I'm seriously considering getting that Sweet Home cart. Slappy, you should order a cart from the website first and tell us how it goes.

I got a copy of Zelda Outlands on a different site months ago. Don't know if it was 100% legal or not, but there were no problems with my transaction. It seems like this retro game reproduction thing is pretty popular these days. It doesn't seem like something the FBI would be wasting it's time cracking down on . Then again, anything's possible. I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with this website. Have any of you guys ever ordered a reproduction cart online from any website?

Well ordering off a site like this is a /lot/ more risky than say, downloading a major label album off the internet, so I'd imagine if someone were too chicken to do that, then this would be entirely out of the question since it's so much easier to tie it to you, and such, and there's money involved. Just a hypothetical.
That said, I don't think the people buying stuff have to worry about getting caught, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the site got shut down, and if you had an order going through at the time, you'd just be out of your money. Then even if the site didn't get shut down, I'm not sure how much I'd trust some guy on the internet running an illegal business who can't even speak English properly to produce high quality stuff.

Just checked out the website's list of NES reproduction offerings, and FUCK YEAH EARTH BOUND! Hell, it has two label versions:
Black label edtion
Red label edition
If I ever get a NES, I will definitely buy one of these. Hopefully they use the original ROM, and not Neo Demiforce's hacked so it would work with NESticle version with the now pointless anti-anti-piracy hack and always pointless "ZERO" subtitle added to the title screen.

Yeah grammar and spelling. Although they (and many other sites like this) have been doing this game reproduction stuff for a few years now. So I may just suck it up and give it a shot. Some of their shit looks pretty cool.

I've seen this site recommended by a few internet celebrities, like Jew Wario and Mike Matei. Not saying that that guarantees its safety or anything, but it certainly helps, I'd think.

This. I'm seeing more of this stance on intellectual property and frankly, it has a long way to go if its proponents are anything like this guy.

As much as I enjoy AVGN's stuff I don't care for Mike anytime he shows up in a feature, something about him rubs me the wrong way. His title cards are cool sometimes though.

It's not legal. Period. There's not even a grey area. You don't lose your copyright simply because there wasn't a commercial release of your product - in fact, copyright explicitly gives you the right to not choose to release it. They're just blowing ass-smoke. And they just haven't been caught yet (my guess is they're not in the US).
I don't think it's illegal for people to buy it, just for them to manufacture and sell it. So snap them up if you want them, while you can.

BUMPING
So I gave it a try and they did come through. I don't really care if it's legit or not. I got some pretty cool shit from them. Expect it to take about a month and a half to reach you though. They seem to be pretty flooded with orders.

Wanted to give everyone the heads up that not only is the site legit, but they do some pretty wonderful work. I ordered a Sweet Home NES cartridge from them, and it looks (and most importantly, plays) wonderful. I adore finally being able to play this on my TV with an NES controller.

"Legit" and "legal" aren't the same. It could still be against the law even if they aren't ripping you off.
And kickass cart, Cammy.

There's a video game store in my area that sells repro carts, such as Sweet Home and Earthbound, and they've been in business for years.
